Ephesians 6:10-13 (Part 1)

10 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. 12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. 13 This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.

Before a soldier goes to battle, he equips himself with gear that will protect him as well as weapons to use in battle to defeat his enemy. As Christians, it is essential to armor up with the Armor of God to fight not men and women but something much more sinister, deceptive, dark, hater of anything good and a murderer which is Satan and his demonic forces. This is what we believers in Christ are up against. What is the Full Armor of God and how exactly do we put it on? To put it on is by first of all being a follower of Jesus Christ and then living a life of righteousness in obedience to the Word of God and not living a life that the world lives according to:

Romans 13:12-13

12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

The Armor of God is Jesus Christ .

Romans 13:14

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no plans to satisfy the fleshly desires.

Christians who rely only on Jesus by living according to the scripture will have the Armor because the Lord will be his protector so that you won’t be defeated by the enemy. A Christian gets defeated by taking it off and that is when one is living in sin. Jesus will not protect a child in disobedience but would allow for defeat to take place so that the defeated believer might repent. Without the Armor we are nothing, but with it, we are victorious in Jesus Christ so remember that as believers, our lifeline is to:

1. Pray to the Lord with thanksgiving for everything He has done for you and ask Him for strength to do His will and to be protected against the evil one.

2. Read the Bible daily so that your mind may be filled with God’s Word and your desires may be transformed into what God desires according to His Word and it will keep you from stumbling (Psalms 119:9,11).

3. And third, let the Word of God transform you and live your life around and according to scripture so that you may be pleasing to God and will equip you to defend the Bible, protect yourself from false doctrine and not only to have answers for people’s questions but to tell them the good news about Jesus’ death and resurrection.

A few things are confused here.

There seems to be a confusion here with the words in the Bible and the Word in the Bible. The two are not the same.

Since we are talking Bible, let’s first go to Ephesians 6 concerning the full armour.
These are the items of spiritual armour listed: truth, righteousness, gospel, faith, salvation, Spirit and all prayer.
All of these items are that which the word reveals Christ is:
Truth: I am the way, the truth, and the life, John 14:6.
Righteousness: Christ, who is made unto us… righteousness 1 Cor. 1:30.
    Gospel: 1 Corinthians 15.
Faith: Not ours, Christ’s, Ephesians 2:8-10, Revelation 14:12.
Salvation: Yeshua, the very name of Christ, means Salvation of the Self-Existent Ones. Romans 10:13
Sword of Spirit, which is the Word: Christ is the Word, John 1:1&14.
All prayer: The work of the censor is Christ mingled with the prayers of the saints. Praying in another form besides in the Spirit, what Christ is saying through us is worthless. Hebrews 4:15 and Revelation 8:3&4.

So as you point out in one place, the armour is Yeshua, not the words in the Bible. This in no way discounts the Scriptures for they are God breathed. However the Scriptures clearly point out that it is not a bunch of scripture hurling or memorization that is our armour. It is is Christ Himself.

Our faith is not in something outside of us, but something inside of us, namely Christ. He dwells inside by Spirit. Christ in you the hope of glory, Colossians 1:27b.

There is no person, group of persons, building, or book that gives us the armour. It is simply Christ inside, and this protects the outside very well.

I disagree with your conclusion whole heartily. Jesus is your armor…that’s correct but how do you put it on? First, one as to put their trust and faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior (Acts 16:30-31). Second, you must live a life of obedience or righteousness according to
    Ephesians 4:24
and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
    Galatians 5:16
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Third, by reading the Word of God daily you will be pleasing to the Lord Jesus according to:
    Colossians 1:9-10
9 For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, 10 so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God.
    John 14:23
Jesus answered, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
    John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
You cannot separate Jesus Christ and God’s Word. The Word expresses Jesus character and teaches you how to please Him so without the God breathed (The Word) you will not grow (1 Peter 2:2) and will fall away by being easily deceived (Ephesians 4:13-14).
To get the armor is first of all through God’s Word that’s how you will find out about Jesus. And if you are saying that Jesus is not the Word then I would have deep concerns for you.
