Truth must Prevail

Matthew 10:34-36

34 Don’t assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.

A sword acts like a crowbar separating truth from lies and cuts or divides those who accepts Jesus as the truth from those who do not. Christians must not be timid in using the sword of truth even if you will offend someone by what you say. Truth will always offend because it’s going against the grain of the person’s sinful lifestyle. Christians are not here to go around offending people because we like it but truth itself does that. The problem is when Christians don’t want to offend someone, the only way that can be done is either withholding the truth or compromising the truth, there is no middle ground. Jesus offended most of his contemporaries especially the religious leaders of His time, why? Because He spoke His native tongue, Truth.

1 Timothy 4:1-3

4 Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared. 3 They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods that God created to be received with gratitude by those who believe and know the truth.

What would constitute a demonic teaching? Jesus not being God, salvation is based not only on faith alone but works, making good evil and evil good, anything that would make you stray from doctrinal truth and believe something false which is condemned in scripture. When Satan or his demons bring these so called truth, it will be subtle, almost unnoticeable. And of course naive Christians who think it’s not as important will swallow up enough to get them sick and weak so when the enemy attacks them again in a different way of deception, would be much easier to trick them in embracing the lie.

Compromising the truth for the sake of avoiding an argument is foreign to scripture as we will see below.

Matthew 23:13

“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You lock up the kingdom of heaven from people. For you don’t go in, and you don’t allow those entering to go in.

7 times Jesus calls them hypocrites, 1 time He calls them blind guides and 1 time He calls them snakes, brood of vipers meaning you bunch of snakes. I’m not saying to use Jesus’ exact words but what the scripture teaches us is that when you see or hear someone saying something unbiblical, our first instinct is to correct them quickly or else someone might take it as truth. The enemy is not slack in snatching truth from a believer (Matthew 13:19). It’s the only thing that makes his lies to thrive. Jesus in John 14:6 says, “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” The only path to take is the path of truth which will lead you to where the Father is (heaven). Why in the name of the Most High would a Christian put truth aside for the sake of not hurting someone’s feelings knowing full well that the truth can save him/her from hell. I can honestly say that sometimes, I can’t see the difference in theology (I mean basic theology) from a professing Evangelical Christian to a clearly false Christian. Now, that’s scary. We must stand for truth regardless if it’s popular or not.

2 Thessalonians 2:10

and with every unrighteous deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth in order to be saved.
