A Jew, Muslim, Catholic And An Evangelical Christian In A Life Raft In The Midst Of A Storm

Does the Jew, Muslim, Catholic and an Evangelical Christian worship the same God? The way to know this is on whom do they call when their lives are in trouble. I will show the differences between them through an illustration.

There was a catastrophe that occurred in the ocean with a ship full of people. It caught fire and the captain ordered to abandon ship. In one of the life rafts were four men. A Jewish man, Muslim, Catholic and a Christian (Evangelical). A storm was headed their way, once they saw how big the waves were getting they started to call out to God.

The Jewish man said, within himself, “I’m one of the chosen people a descendant of Abraham (Matthew 3:9), I keep the law and the traditions (Luke 18:10-13, Matthew 9:1-9). I’m worthy to be saved because I’m not like these gentiles sinners beside me (John 9:24-34).”

The Muslim prays and says, “Allah is the greatest. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah. I bear witness that Muhammad is the prophet of Allah. There is no deity but Allah (Surah 112:1-4, Surah 2:116, Surah 5:116). Kill these infidels, disbelievers Jews and Christians (Surah 5:51, Surah 3:151) who are next to me because they don’t believe in Allah and in Muhammad and in the last day but save me.”

Then the Catholic looks up to the heavens and cries out and says, “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us.”

The born again Christian humbles himself by lowering his head and says, “Father in heaven, You Lord are the only one to be praised (Psalms 145:3), for You alone created all things in heaven and on earth (Isaiah 44:24, John 1:1-3). For salvation only belongs to You Lord Jesus because You alone died for the sins of the world (Acts 4:8-12). May Your name be praised and exalted above every name (Philippians 2:9-11). Save us from this storm and deliver us Lord Jesus (Mark 4:35-41). Save those who are with me and have mercy on all of us O Lord. Even if I perish I will praise You Lord but don’t let those with me perish so that they won’t die with out You Lord Jesus. I ask You all this in Jesus’ name Amen.

Now, which of these four men prayed to the true Living God? Do all of them believe in the same God? Can you make it to heaven in choosing to believe in any of their Gods if in fact they are all praying to the same God? The answer is found in John 14:6 which says, “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus in the same chapter claimed to be God as one of His disciples wanted Jesus to reveal God the Father to them and this was Jesus’ response.

John 14:8-14

8 “Lord,” said Philip, “show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.”9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own. The Father who lives in Me does His works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves.

Below are passages that make it clear about Jesus being in the Father and the Father being in Him which clearly states that Jesus and the Father are the same God Yahweh as seen in

John 1:1,14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

14 The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory,
the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Colossians 2:9

9 For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ

The Jews reject Jesus as Messiah and since Jesus is God they have rejected God. Muslims deny Jesus being the Son of God and deny His deity as well, denying God and if they have rejected God then who do you think is Allah but Satan himself. Catholics claim to believe in Jesus but deny Him through the worship of Mary and substitute Mary in place of Jesus, ask Mary to be the savior of their souls, making Mary their God. The born again Christian is the only one that prays and worships Jesus Christ and gives Him the glory do His name.
