A Jew, Muslim, Catholic And An Evangelical Christian In A Life Raft In The Midst Of A Storm

life-raft

Does the Jew, Muslim, Catholic and an Evangelical Christian worship the same God? The way to know this is on whom do they call when their lives are in trouble. I will show the differences between them through an illustration.

There was a catastrophe that occurred in the ocean with a ship full of people. It caught fire and the captain ordered to abandon ship. In one of the life rafts were four men. A Jewish man, Muslim, Catholic and a Christian (Evangelical). A storm was headed their way, once they saw how big the waves were getting they started to call out to God.

The Jewish man said, within himself, “I’m one of the chosen people a descendant of Abraham (Matthew 3:9), I keep the law and the traditions (Luke 18:10-13, Matthew 9:1-9). I’m worthy to be saved because I’m not like these gentiles sinners beside me (John 9:24-34).”

The Muslim prays and says, “Allah is the greatest. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah. I bear witness that Muhammad is the prophet of Allah. There is no deity but Allah (Surah 112:1-4, Surah 2:116, Surah 5:116). Kill these infidels, disbelievers Jews and Christians (Surah 5:51, Surah 3:151) who are next to me because they don’t believe in Allah and in Muhammad and in the last day but save me.”

Then the Catholic looks up to the heavens and cries out and says, “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us.”

The born again Christian humbles himself by lowering his head and says, “Father in heaven, You Lord are the only one to be praised (Psalms 145:3), for You alone created all things in heaven and on earth (Isaiah 44:24, John 1:1-3). For salvation only belongs to You Lord Jesus because You alone died for the sins of the world (Acts 4:8-12). May Your name be praised and exalted above every name (Philippians 2:9-11). Save us from this storm and deliver us Lord Jesus (Mark 4:35-41). Save those who are with me and have mercy on all of us O Lord. Even if I perish I will praise You Lord but don’t let those with me perish so that they won’t die with out You Lord Jesus. I ask You all this in Jesus’ name Amen.

Now, which of these four men prayed to the true Living God? Do all of them believe in the same God? Can you make it to heaven in choosing to believe in any of their Gods if in fact they are all praying to the same God? The answer is found in John 14:6 which says, “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus in the same chapter claimed to be God as one of His disciples wanted Jesus to reveal God the Father to them and this was Jesus’ response.

John 14:8-14

8 “Lord,” said Philip, “show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.”9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own. The Father who lives in Me does His works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves.

Below are passages that make it clear about Jesus being in the Father and the Father being in Him which clearly states that Jesus and the Father are the same God Yahweh as seen in

John 1:1,14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

14 The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory,
the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Colossians 2:9

9 For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ

The Jews reject Jesus as Messiah and since Jesus is God they have rejected God. Muslims deny Jesus being the Son of God and deny His deity as well, denying God and if they have rejected God then who do you think is Allah but Satan himself. Catholics claim to believe in Jesus but deny Him through the worship of Mary and substitute Mary in place of Jesus, ask Mary to be the savior of their souls, making Mary their God. The born again Christian is the only one that prays and worships Jesus Christ and gives Him the glory do His name.

  1. But Jesus is the God of the Jews… That’s kind of the point. To say that the Jews reject Him is unfair, because many will know practically nothing about Him, and so can reject Him no more than those before He was born.
Muslims do state that Jesus is the son of God, but yes, He is certainly not God to them, and so they don’t believe He’s the eternally begotten Son. Still, can they reject a Gospel they’ve never heard?
St. Paul said that God is not far from any of us (Acts 17:27-28), and that the shrine to an unknown god was to God Himself.
As for Mary, the most basic thing to understand about Mary for Catholics is, she can do nothing by herself, but all things through Christ Who strengthens her. Trusting Mary, or anyone else He has given us as His servant (in Heaven or on Earth), is trusting Christ.

    1. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment Ignatius. I completely disagree with your statements and conclusions. Your view of scripture seems to be interpreted through sympathy. We must hold to the truth because the truth will set people free, if you tell them what they want to hear how can they be free? Yes, the Jews was worshiping God but when He can to His own people they reject their Messiah. Not knowing that their Messiah was God in the flesh. They have rejected God. Not all Jews have rejected God. For today there’s a lot of messianic Jews who have put their trust in Jesus and are saved. In Luke 10:16 shows the person who rejects Jesus rejects the Father in heaven:

      Luke 10:16
Whoever listens to you listens to Me. Whoever rejects you rejects Me. And whoever rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”
Muslims do not state anywhere in the Quran that Jesus is the son of Allah. I have place Surahs meaning chapters and verses of the Quran that states it.

In Acts 17 you completely misunderstood what Paul was addressing.

      Acts 17:24-25
24 The God who made the world and everything in it—He is Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in shrines made by hands. 25 Neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives everyone life and breath and all things.

Paul was telling them that God is not worshiped in a shrine which is idolatry but he took an opportunity with the inscription “To an Unknown God” and used it to reveal to them the true living God Jesus Christ. Paul was not condoning idolatry. Your interpretation is incorrect as in Deuteronomy 4:16-17
16 not to act corruptly and make an idol for yourselves in the shape of any figure: a male or female form, 17 or the form of any beast on the earth, any winged creature that flies in the sky.
Catholics exalt Mary to the status of Jesus. That is a sin.

      1. I absolutely agree that rejecting Jesus Christ is rejecting God. But can we say that those Jews who have not heard the Gospel are any further from God than all Jews before Jesus came?
I double checked, and you seem to be correct, they don’t call Him son of God, although they do call Him Word of God and Spirit of God, interestingly.
I agree he never condones idolatry in the slightest, but he does see and accept a seed of truth in their worship of an unknown God. There’s a very interesting background to these shrines that shows even more clearly how they point to the One God, I recommend looking it up (I don’t remember well enough I’m afraid).
To Catholics, Mary is the greatest of all creatures, above even the angels, but she is still a creature, and still below Jesus. No creature ever gave Jesus more than His mother Mary. Her power is nothing but the mystery of prayer, by which God submits Himself to His own creatures.

      2. Regarding Mary, the Bible clearly states that the only mediator between men and God is the man Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:5). You are to only pray to the Father in Jesus’ name or to Jesus directly but never to a deceased person. No where in scripture does it say that Mary is the greatest of all creatures, only she is highly favored and we know that God is not partial. Favor means a person who’s life is in obedience to God’s Word. Favor also means that the person who is pleasing to God by living a life in obedience that God will bless and protect that individual. Mary was just used to bring about Jesus in the flesh. God could of made Jesus appeared or born from thin air…nothing is impossible to Him but He choose Mary to have Him. She was just a conduit. Jesus is only to be praised, prayed too and highly honored not anyone else.

The Athenians where pagans which had no seed of truth in any manner possible. They were worshiping false god’s. Either you have the truth or you don’t. Truth cannot have, not even an inch of false or else it will stop being truth. As an illustration: Lets say I have a full cup of water and I put a tiny drop of poison in the cup of water…would you drink it? Even though 99% is clear water but 1% is poison. Of course not you wouldn’t drink it because it will still harm you. The poison permeates the whole cup of water, just like the lie permeates through the whole truth. Truth and false cannot coexist together and be considered as truth. For an example: Either Jesus is God or not…He cannot be both. The truth is He is God. Truth has to be 100% or else it is not truth put a lie. Satan brings half truths that’s how deceptions works or else it couldn’t work. The lie has to look almost like the truth to deceive.

      3. Yes, Jesus is the only mediator, the one true priest. But of course we can pray to others. Prayer is just talking, and often making requests. Prayer to the saints, whether in Heaven or on Earth, is just requesting their intercession. As for being alive, they are more truly alive than we are, like Moses and Elijah on Mt Tabor.
God chose Mary to bring about the incarnation. Of course He didn’t depend on her, and doesn’t owe her anything. But by His grace, she is truly the mother of Jesus Christ, the God-man! By His grace, she gave Him flesh and welcomed Him to the world. By His grace, she carried the creator in Her womb. No other creature has given Him anyway near so much, and He has been so dependent on no other creature.
If they had no seed of truth, why does St. Paul quote their own poets?

      4. Yes, the saints are alive with God but no where in scripture does it allow to inquire meaning seek, ask or pray to the dead. If you pray to the dead you are inviting demons into your house. By praying to the deceased it is a form of witchcraft as seen in Deuteronomy 18:9-11 which says, 9 “When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not imitate the detestable customs of those nations. 10 No one among you is to make his son or daughter pass through the fire, practice divination, tell fortunes, interpret omens, practice sorcery, 11 cast spells, consult a medium or a familiar spirit, or inquire of the dead.

Also, when king Saul wanted to talk to Samuel he did it through a medium which is witchcraft as seen in 1 Samuel chapter 28. King Saul was unfaithful to the Lord because he went to a medium which is witchcraft.

Mary didn’t carry the Creator, the Creator carried her. What I mean is that Mary’s life was in Jesus’ hand not the other why around. Mary was used by God to bring Jesus into the world as God could of use any woman that He wanted to. Mary and everyone else is a created creature.
        Job 12:10
The life of every living thing is in His hand, as well as the breath of all mankind

You are exalting Mary that even Jesus didn’t do Himself when a lady wanted to exalt Mary Jesus said that the one’s He blesses are the one’s that do His will as seen in Luke 11:27-28 which says, 27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” 28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Stop exalting Mary and start exalting Jesus Christ alone. Pray to Jesus alone and He will hear you.

      5. He is God of the living, not the dead. Jesus spoke with Moses, even though he had died.
Her Creator carried her, but she certainly carried Him also- that is the mystery of the incarnation. Jesus was completely dependent on Mary as truly as He died upon the Cross.
Jesus wasn’t denying Mary’s blessedness among women, which all generations will acknowledge, but saying that all bless, including hers, is by hearing and obeying the word of God. And who ever accepted the word of God more, than she who conceived the Word of God in her womb?
I do pray to Jesus, and He does hear me 🙂

      6. Jesus wasn’t praying to Moses but He was conveying His exodus from earth to him. Now Jesus can talk to whomever He wants because He is God and we are not, He owns us. You completely throw away the verses that clearly says that it is wrong to pray to the dead and by the dead I mean those whom are not living on earth. Deuteronomy 18 condemns anyone who prays to the dead and calls it witchcraft. Its up to you to either obey what scripture plainly says or disobey. Jesus never or ever will depend on His creation. Jesus Christ is the creator who doesn’t need anyone or needs to depend on anyone. You must choose to pray to Jesus alone or to continue in your going against Biblical teachings. Jesus doesn’t need to depend on Mary. I already showed you the verses but it seems that you choose to ignore them. The Bible centers on Jesus Christ. Its all about Jesus period. No one can be equal in any way by prayer or any type of honor.

      7. What is prayer but talking? Jesus is a human being also, and bound to obey the Father and be righteous. Jesus was obeying the law when he spoke with Moses, despite Moses’ death. You mean those not living on earth, but that doesn’t mean the scriptures do. They only say “dead”, which can’t mean those more alive than us.
Jesus Christ is fully human also, and depended on His mother as much as every other human. He became like us in all things, except sin (Heb 2:17). All humans, all flesh, are dependent. To say Jesus didn’t depend on anyone is to deny the incarnation. Not that any of this lessens creation’s utter dependence on Him for its very existence.
I don’t know which verses you mean here, I don’t see how any of those you put contradict me.
I agree, it’s all about Jesus.
No one can be His equal. But prayer is just talking, and it’s no worse to talk to, and request intercession from, saints in Heaven than on Earth. We are commanded to honour many creatures, for example, our mothers and fathers, but clearly, this is on a different plane to the honour we owe God. It is like how we thank a person for their gift, but ought also to thank God even more for the same gift, because it is even more truly His gift.

      8. What you just said doesn’t make any sense. By your conclusion Jesus then was praying to Moses because prayer is talking. I’m sorry but that is very strange. Jesus was only talking which is different from prayer because prayer says that we need help and is to praise and exalt Him through prayer. We only pray to Jesus. Show one verse in the New Testament that any of the Apostles prayed to the dead? Jesus was in the flesh but that doesn’t take away that He was God in the flesh so your argument again makes no sense. You have not dealt with the verses that I showed you but continue in an cycle of Catholic doctrine and not on scripture.

I want you to refute the verses that I gave you concerning
        1. praying to the dead
        2. praying to Mary
        3. Mary is co-redemptrix with Jesus in our salvation.

Show one verse that states its OK to give someone else glory other than God.

        Isaiah 42:8
I am Yahweh, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another or My praise to idols.

The Catholic Church is in full blown Idolatry by praying, kissing and praying to the statue of Mary and all the rest that you guys do the same to.

      9. So you believe we’re allowed to speak with the saints in Heaven (like Jesus did), but are not allowed to ask them to pray for us? Even though we happily ask for prayer from the saints on Earth? I don’t know of any such verse, but I do know that it makes sense with the scriptures, and was an accepted practice in the early Church.
Those who deny the incarnation in any way always say that it doesn’t make sense. But He was fully human also, made like to us in all things. You have not dealt with Hb 2:17. If He was not weak, dependent and vulnerable, His humanity is not the same as ours. If He is not dependent, He couldn’t truly suffer.
The mystery of the incarnation is that God almighty and eternal was born a baby, with a mother, suffered, and died.
No one can refute scripture. We are only to understand it. To that end, I’ve been explaining the verses you gave me, using logic and the scriptures.
I have answered 1. & 2. using Jesus talking with Moses to interpret the meaning in Deuteronomy.
I have answered 3. by showing how important Mary was in the salvation of the world, because she was important to Jesus, even giving Him life (in the way all mothers do).
1 verse: “The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one” (Jn17:22).
Do you never pray looking upon a cross? Do you never kiss your cross or perhaps your Bible, as an expression of your love for God? Would these be idolatry? I don’t think so.

        God bless you

      10. I have never said that I believe to pray or speak to the saints in heaven. It is against scripture to do so. If you speak to the dead you are participating in witchcraft which Catholics are doing without them being aware of. Jesus’ weakness was that He suffered in the sense of being thirsty, hungry, tired and sleepy. In the Book of John when they came to arrest Him, Jesus said I Am and they all fell backwards…that’s His power. O man, did you actually read Hebrews 2:17 because you completely twisted the verse I mean wow.
        Hebrews 2:17
17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.

Jesus became human and took a body of flesh so that He could die for the sins of the world or else how can Jesus the eternal One die?

In Hebrews 10 it explains why He became like one of us.

        Hebrews 10:5,10
5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
        but a body you prepared for me;

10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

You seem like a very nice person and I’m not here to malign you but the Catholic Church do not worship Jesus or the Father in heaven because you made Mary your god along with the saints. You think you are worshiping Jesus but you’re not, you are still in darkness. I say throw all of your idols away and seek the Lord Jesus Christ alone. He alone died for your sins not Mary or any other saints. Jesus alone deserves the glory, honor and praises. You apostatize and started to worship idols I ask you that if you continue in your state you will die lost and without Jesus.
