Cookie a day: Gone Fishing

17 “Follow Me,” Jesus told them, “and I will make you fish for people!” 18 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

Mark 1:17-18

Jesus loves you very much and desires to be with you forever by cleansing your sins and gifting you with eternal life. Once you put your trust in Jesus, immediately Jesus gives you the job title of fisherman (for-man). What does fishing entail? Lots of patience, being prepared with everything needed to catch a fish.  There will be days without catching anything, fishing when it’s raining, hot or cold. Once you catch a fish it doesn’t end there, you have to clean the fish and scale it.

That’s what it takes to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Having lots of patience with those who reject Jesus’ message and not giving up, preparing yourself by praying and knowing the Bible very well through deep study. It might take days, weeks, months and even years without bringing someone to Christ but remember it’s not up to you to convict them of sin but the Spirit of God. There’s never a day off when it comes to telling people about Jesus. It is done in any season when the Spirit of God directs you to someone. When you bring someone to Christ, you have to nourish that person by teaching them the scriptures until their faith is built up enough to go on their own.

If you need me I’m out fishing by the pier. Come join me.

      1. I’ve been a little down with not seeing salvation in our church and our church outreach; I know its in the Lord’s hand, I’ve been resolved to pray more for people’s salvation.

      2. Your feeling is understandable. Even when you don’t see anything remember that in the spiritual world things are moving rapidly . This verse comes to mind while typing this and it’s found in Isaiah 55:11 which says, so My word that comes from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.”

Even though nothing is happening in front of our eyes, in the spiritual world are battles occurring to keep people away from a saving faith in Jesus Christ. A good Book and chapter to read regarding this is Daniel chapter 10. Daniel prayed for an answer and fasted but nothing. In reality there was a battle between very strong demons against an angel from the Lord who had Daniel’s answered payer but was oppose for 21 days. Give it time, remember God is never early or late, He is always on time. God’s timing is not ours because its better.
