Christ has liberated us to be free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
Are we slaves or free? Which one is it? Well, everyone is a slave, either he is a slave to the desires of the flesh which compels him to do whatever the flesh demands, or he is a slave to Christ. To be free from sin is to become a slave of Jesus Christ, enabling you to do His will. Living for sin is harmful to the soul while living for Jesus brings salvation to the soul.
Let’s look at in this way, you have a job that you love so much it doesn’t feel like work since you do it so well and with pleasure. On the other hand, you have a job that you hate so much because your boss pushes you hard and is harsh, making you feel like a slave. That’s the difference when you are a slave to Christ or a slave to sin.
When you serve the flesh, you know that certain things that you do like drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality and etc. are wrong. You want to stop but you can’t manage to free yourself because only Jesus has the keys to your jail cell.
To be a slave of Christ is having the strength to say no to your flesh in doing the things mentioned above. Serving Christ feels good because He gives you His strength to do so and His burden is light.
