10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed beyond measure. 11 Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary His mother, and falling to their knees, they worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Jesus was worshiped, not because He was the Messiah but because He is God. The gifts were to honor Jesus but those three gifts had meanings.
- GOLD-To honor God as King. (Revelation 4:4,9-11)
- FRANKINCENSE-It represents the prayers of the saints that go before the Living God. (Revelation 5:8)
- MYRRH– A sacred anointing oil with a perfume fragrance, used to consecrate and set apart for God’s use. (Exodus 30:23-29)
Jesus was the living Tabernacle, God in human flesh who was set apart as Holy for the redemption of the human race.
