Cookie a day: Jesus Is Mentioned In Genesis 3

Theophany-Preincarnate manifestations of Christ

8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and they hid themselves from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

Genesis 3:8

The Hebrew word for “sound” is qol (kole) which means from an unused root meaning to call aloud; a voice. –Strong’s#6963

The verse could read “8 Then the man and his wife heard the “Word” of the Lord God walking in the garden.”

Both Adam and Eve heard the Word of God walking in the garden and who is the Word of God? Jesus Christ according to John 1:1 which says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Jesus Christ was the one who was walking in the garden because no one has ever seen God the Father according to John 1:18 which says, “No one has ever seen God. The One and Only Son– the One who is at the Father’s side– He has revealed Him.”

Adam couldn’t have seen the Father but he did see Jesus Christ. In the verses below, it will show that God manifests Himself to humanity in the person of Jesus.

John 14:8-9

8 “Lord,” said Philip, “show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

    1. The Hebrew word qol gives the meaning that someone is saying or calling out something meaning you are hearing God’s voice to be precise.

In John 1:18 it says, No one has ever seen God. The One and Only Son– the One who is at the Father’s side– He has revealed Him.

It is very obvious that it was the second person in the trinity since no one has ever seen God the Father as scripture tells us.

The Word is the one walking in the garden which in John is Jesus, how cool is that.

  1. Exodus 33:20 – “But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!”

Judges 13:17 – “17 Then Manoah inquired of the angel of the Lord, “What is your name, so that we may honor you when your word comes true?” 18 He replied, “Why do you ask my name? It is beyond understanding.”

and Judges 13:22 – “We are doomed to die!” he said to his wife. “We have seen God!”

These verses also substantiates your cookie.

  2. Add Judges 13:23 to that, “23 But his wife answered, “If the Lord had meant to kill us, he would not have accepted a burnt offering and grain offering from our hands, nor shown us all these things or now told us this.”

    1. If God doesn’t reveal Jesus in the O.T it will be difficult to see Him in certain passages but only God could open the eyes like He did me to that passage. God is awesome.

Jesus said and explained the scripture to the two guys walking in the road to Emmaus about Himself in the Old Testament.
