22 So Jacob came closer to his father Isaac. When he touched him, he said, “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau.” 23 He did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like those of his brother Esau; so he blessed him. 24 Again he asked, “Are you really my son Esau?”
And he replied, “I am.”
Here we have an illustration of how deception works. Jacob deceived his father Isaac whose eyes were very weak, making him believe that he was his brother Esau. He deceived his father so he could get the blessing which goes to the firstborn, Esau.
I believe we can learn a valuable lesson in regards to spiritual matters. Satan can easily deceive those who are blind, meaning believers who barely know scripture. Scripture makes our spiritual eyes 20/20 but when we stay away from reading and studying God’s Word our spiritual eyes become weak and we put ourselves in a dangerous place.
