Cookie a day: The Fear Of The LORD

2 My hand made all these things, and so they all came into being. This is the Lord’s declaration. I will look favorably on this kind of person: one who is humble, submissive in spirit, and trembles at My word.

Isaiah 66:2

Who does God favor and honor? What does He look for in a person’s heart? Those who tremble when they read holy scripture. The phrase “trembles” means to be afraid, in other words, it means to fear the Lord.

What does fear the Lord mean?

1. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.

2. Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the Lord prolongs life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.

3. Proverbs 8:13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech.

4. Proverbs 3:7 Don’t consider yourself to be wise; fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

The fear of the Lord means to turn away from evil by obeying God’s Word. Reading God’s Word starts to transform your mind to that of Christ. That’s the type of person that Jesus Christ delights in, one who is like Him.

If anyone ever tells you to look into something other than God’s Word as an additional or new revelation from God, you must immediately reject it and stay away from that person because they will cause you with their material to fall away from Jesus Christ and worship a false god.
