1 Corinthians 2:10-12
10 Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man that is in him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God.
These verses are very clear that the only one who can teach you about God is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit knows the depths of God which the word “depths” in Greek means “fullness”, in other words, the Holy Spirit fully knows God. Who would you prefer to learn from? Dead theologians or the Living Spirit of God who lives inside of you? I think we know the answer to that, the Holy Spirit. Only a true Christian will choose to learn from God’s Spirit rather than men.
Verse 11 shows that God’s Spirit knows His mind meaning God’s full will and desire. By being directed by the Spirit He will reveal God’s Word to you and enable you to live a life that pleases Him.
How does a Christian live in righteousness? By walking in the Spirit. The only way we can overcome the lust of the flesh if we allow, the Spirit to direct us as seen in Galatians 5: 16-17 which says, 16 I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.
The question remains, how does walking by the Spirit of God look like? When we are reading the scriptures and we are in prayer the Holy Spirit will open up our minds to understand the Bible and strengthen us to live what we have read. He will keep us from being deceived and will transform us into the likeness of Jesus Christ.
Seems like we both are speaking on the same topic today.
