6 In those days people will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will flee from them.
The sting from the demonic locusts will be so painful that the people who are being tormented would rather die than continue to live.
The phrase “but death will flee from them.” might refer to the willingness of the sufferer to die or commit suicide but the severe pain will handicap them from performing it, for lack of strength and being in constant anguish.
7 The appearance of the locusts was like horses equipped for battle. Something like gold crowns was on their heads; their faces were like men’s faces;
These locusts/demons will come as an army and will be given instruction on how to best execute ultimate pain.
They are not low-class demons but are high ranking since they come wearing crowns. They will have human characteristics as well.
8 they had hair like women’s hair; their teeth were like lions’ teeth;
Women’s hair can refer to their appearance. They are not going to look like monsters but having the face of a man and a gold crown on their long hair will make them look attractive.
Even though they might look attractive the phrase “lion’s teeth” clearly shows that they are coming to tear you to pieces.
9 they had chests like iron breastplates; the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses rushing into battle;
They will be armored up showing their strength and being impenetrable meaning that they cannot be defeated by those being attacked.
Keywords: wings, chariots, horses all refer to a massive army that won’t only be on the ground but also in the air. This will be a ground and air attack, with nowhere to run or hide.
10 and they had tails with stingers like scorpions, so that with their tails they had the power to harm people for five months.
It seems that they will resemble from the waist up men and from the waist down some type of creature. The severe pain will last for 152 days with no rest in between.
