To Determine Our Love For Christ, Rests Upon our Belief In The Reliability Of Scripture As We Have It Today

John 5:46-47

46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 47 But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”

If you question the reliability of Scripture, that will reflect in your relationship with the Lord. By believing that the Bible has errors, your communion with Christ will suffer deeply and your love for Him will start to grow cold. According to John 14:23-24, it says, 23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Not believing in inerrancy will make you drift from the love of Christ because Jesus and the Scriptures are two sides of the same coin. Can you take a coin that only has heads or take one that only has tails? Of course not! When you take a coin, you take both sides or none at all. In the same way, when you believe and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are also accepting the Scripture as being without errors. Jesus and the Scripture are two sides of the same coin. For an example:

1. Revelation 19:13-He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.

2. John 1:1, 14 -In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

It is an oxymoron to believe in two contradicting statements as being true like accepting that Jesus is without sin and at the same time believe that the Scriptures have errors. Either a professing Christian believes in both or he/she will reject both. You cannot believe one without the other. Scripture is God’s revelation of who He is and how we can please Him. Without God’s Word, we cannot have a relationship with Christ. If you reject the inerrant Word of God then you will make up a Jesus who is not Biblical and who will lead you to hell.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, do not be mislead by those who reject inerrancy for they are bankrupt of the Truth. Hold on to it, for it will guide you by illuminating your path according to Psalm 119:105 which says, 105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Jesus said that the Word of God not only will give you faith to believe in Him for salvation (2 Timothy 3:15, Romans 10:17) but will protect you from demonic attacks as seen in Matthew 7:24-27 which says, 24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Show me a coin that has two heads or two tails and I will show you a worthless coin that has no ability to help you buy what you need. In the same way, by believing in a Jesus apart from the revealed Jesus of Scripture, I will show you a false Christ who cannot give you eternal life.

Our only protection against deception is by trusting 100% in God’s Word.

Psalms 119:114

You are my shelter and my shield; I put my hope in Your word.
