Anger makes your blood pressure rise, impatient and clouds your judgment in making the right decision. It can cause you to hurt or in an extreme case kill someone without thinking of the consequences. However, there is a distinction between ungodly anger and righteous anger that is directed at sin and injustice which would convict you to do the right thing lawfully by prayer and fasting.
Being angry for long periods of time induces depression which can make a person’s life halt, damage the family and relationships with friends and can even cause a person to take his/her life. Anger opens the door to the devil to wreak havoc and to destroy your life physically and spiritually. The angrier you get without controlling it, the more dangerous your life gets. Before a flood of destruction comes in, close the door of anger by seeking the Lord’s strength and committing your life to Him.
Ephesians 4:26-27
26 Be angry and do not sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and don’t give the Devil an opportunity.
James 1:19-20
19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Proverbs 19:11
Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.
Proverbs 15:18
A hot-tempered man stirs up conflict, but a man slow to anger calms strife.
Colossians 3:8
But now you must also put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth.
Psalm 37:8
Refrain from anger and give up your rage; do not be agitated—it can only bring harm.
Matthew 5:22
But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Fool!’ will be subject to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, ‘You moron!’ will be subject to hellfire.
Proverbs 29:22
An angry man stirs up conflict, and a hot-tempered man increases rebellion.
Romans 12:21
Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
Colossians 3:13
accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive.
( Ephesians 4:26-27 KJV ) “26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.”!!

Is it a sin to be angry if the other person is deliberately provoking you to anger

No, it is a sin to be angry at someone unless it’s a righteous anger. Righteous anger refers to sin

Prolonged, extremely strong rage is definitely harmful but being momentarily angry at someone for a minor inconvenience isn’t a sin. It happens to everybody

Exactly, because we all are sinners and need Jesus to have our sins forgiven.

No, but thinking in your mind about the person in hatred is.

Hating someone isn’t the same as murdering that person.
My mother hates her ex-sister-in-law. That doesn’t mean she actively thinks about this person and actively plots to harm her.

hating someone from the heart, Jesus considers that as murder from the heart because before a person murders someone, they must hate them first.

A person can hate somebody but avoid that person in sight and mind as much as possible. It’s not possible to equally love everybody.

Thsi is my last reply. I have to hit the sack. Everything is possible with Jesus in your heart.

This wasn’t about Jesus. I’m just saying that just because a person hates somebody, doesn’t mean he is actively plotting every day to harm that other person

Hatred is sin, period. Hating someone is having ill feelings in your heart. That is evil.

To hate someone, you have to care enough about that person to have feelings of malice towards that person. In most cases, people are just indifferent.

If I hate you (which I don’t), is that the same thing as me taking a switchblade and punching a hole in your stomach?

Hating people can be caused but any different situation in one’s life. Nonetheless, it is sinful to hate anyone.

No, but God will judge you as a murderer of the heart. hatred and murder, all stems from Satan, the father of lies, murder, and hatred.

Satan is the great invisible boogeyman of Christianity. All this talk about him being the Prince of Darkness and the Father of All Lies, yet when he actually appears as opposed to being mentioned, he doesn’t live up to his reputation. In the OT, he afflicts Job with boils, destroys his family, and kills his family- but its all under the oversight of God. He does not harm Job more than God commands him to. In the NT, he tempts Jesus with promises of power and wealth, but leaves without harming Jesus when the latter refuses to submit to him.
I have no doubt that malevolent, otherworldly entities exist. But I don’t believe some overlord behind the scenes is directing everything evil in the world. The true enemy is none other than other evil humans.
Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, Bill Clinton to name a few.

You see, the devil already has you fooled you. His greatest deception is to make people believe he doesn’t exist. So when he hits you with lies, you won’t fight it because you won’t believe it’s happening to you.
