6 The woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God, to be fed there for 1,260 days.
In verses 1-5, the woman mentioned was Mary as the context went back in time to the dramatic scene of King Herod who Satan used to try to kill Jesus when He was an infant. Now the scene jumps all the way to a future not yet come which is the great tribulation. Here the woman represents Israel meaning the Jewish people who fled by way of help into a safe place, away from the Antichrist for 3 1/2 years.
Most likely this event, the Jews fleeing, will occur when the Antichrist puts his image in the corner of the third temple in the middle of the great tribulation or the last 3 1/2 years.
In Matthew 24:15-18 it sheds light on that event which says, 15 “So when you see the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place” (let the reader understand), 16 “then those in Judea must flee to the mountains! 17 A man on the housetop must not come down to get things out of his house. 18 And a man in the field must not go back to get his clothes.
According to the Book of Zechariah, not all of the Jewish people will escape or survive as seen in Zechariah 13:1-5 which says, A day of the Lord is coming when your plunder will be divided in your presence. 2 I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle. The city will be captured, the houses looted, and the women raped. Half the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city. 3 Then the Lord will go out to fight against those nations as He fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. The Mount of Olives will be split in half from east to west, forming a huge valley, so that half the mountain will move to the north and half to the south.
7 Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought,
While the Antichrist is trying to destroy Israel and proclaim to all the people that he is God (2 Thessalonians 2:4) so that he can be worshipped, the scene then changes to a climactic scene of the final spiritual battle that takes place in heaven.
This is Satan’s ultimate goal since the very beginning, to take full unlimited control of earth as well as the kingdom of God in heaven. There are two major battles going on for pure domination. Satan and his fallen angels go to make war in heaven against Michael, the chief prince, and his angels. Here we see that Satan wants to make into reality what was said about him saying in Isaiah 14:12-14 which says, 12 “How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
13 For you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’
8 but he could not prevail, and there was no place for them in heaven any longer.
Satan unquestionably was no match for Michael, the chief prince, and his angels. The red dragon was defeated and permanently kicked out of heaven.
9 So the great dragon was thrown out—the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the one who deceives the whole world. He was thrown to earth, and his angels with him.
This verse makes it clear who the dragon is—the title “ancient serpent” reveals that Satan was the one who deceived Eve in the garden (Genesis 3). Satan and his fallen angels are the ones responsible for all deceptions that have occurred on earth through false religion, atheism, and the occult.
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
The salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God
and the authority of His Messiah
have now come,
because the accuser of our brothers
has been thrown out:
the one who accuses them
before our God day and night.
After the defeat of the red dragon and his fallen angels, there is a celebration that takes place in heaven, giving glory to God the Father and God the Son because justice and judgment are quickly approaching to take place against the devil for all that he has done.
