Genesis 4:8
Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
In verse 6 two verses above, Cain was very angry with God because his offering wasn’t accepted. Cain didn’t have a good relationship with the Lord because he had sin in his life that he wasn’t dealing with (see verse 7). That anger eventually turned toward his brother Abel. By Cain nurturing that anger, it produced in him a killer which cost his brother’s life. God takes that emotion very seriously because of what you can become and it opens up the door to demonic oppression like what happened to Cain. When you go to Verse 7 of the same chapter, it describes sin as crouching with a desire to dominate you. Sin here in Genesis has an imagery of having animal characteristics and the Greek meaning for “desire” is to have a longing, craving or if applied to an animal it means to devour.
According to the description of the word “sin”, it is clearly not a metaphor but a demonic presence that has a strong craving to make us sin against God and to destroy us as what happened to Cain and Abel. One of them lost their relationship with God and the other was physically destroyed. Jesus said in John 8:44, You are of your father the Devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of liars.
Jesus is describing what Satan did in Genesis 3-4 and the lie that he told the angels in heaven before their fall and to Eve in the garden.
Anger is very dangerous. If you have something against someone, fix it today because you don’t know if you have tomorrow and with God’s strength you will kill it before and gives birth to something you will deeply regret.
