Bible Trivia Saturday: Noah (Answer)

QUESTION:

How long did it take Noah to build the ark?

ANSWER:

Before the Flood:

Genesis 5:31

32 After Noah was 500 years old, Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Genesis 6:9-14

9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13 And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch.

When Noah reached 500 years old, he had his sons and at that time the whole earth was in full-blown rebellion against God. When the Lord spoke to Noah about His plans for judgment, He instructed Noah when he was 500 years old to start building the ark.

The beginning of the Flood:

Genesis 7:6-7

6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth. 7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him went into the ark to escape the waters of the flood.

After Noah with his sons finished building the ark he was 600 years old and God directed all the animals to go to the ark and told Noah to take the animals with his family into the ark for protection from His judgment because Noah put his faith in the true Living God.

Noah was 500 years old when he was commanded to build the ark.

The floods came when Noah finished building the ark when he was 600 years old.

Noah took approximately 100 years to build the ark.
