Question:
Rahab’s scarlet cord parallels to what passage in Scripture?
Answer:
The parallel passage to that of Rahab’s scarlet cord is found in Exodus 12:13 which says, 13 The blood on the houses where you are staying will be a distinguishing mark for you; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will be among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
The scarlet cord and the blood on the door frames in Exodus, both mean the same. It is a reference to protection from God’s judgment. They were pointing to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for the sins of humanity. You see, in judgment day when you are standing in front of a Holy God, the only way that His wrath and condemnation will pass from you is if He sees His blood on the door frame of your heart.
Rahab put her trust in the God of Israel and the scarlet cord that she attached to her house symbolized what the Israelites did by the command of the Lord in Exodus 12.
Don’t let this day pass by without making sure that you have hung the scarlet cord around your heart.
We do that by…
Repenting (feel remorse for your sins and to change your mind, wanting to follow Christ) and believing (to trust) that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and took your punishment upon Himself, was buried and on the third day rose from the grave. If you give your life to Jesus by faith in His sacrifice, He will give you eternal life.
