1 Corinthians 13:4-7
4 Love is patient, love is kind.
Love does not envy,
is not boastful, is not conceited,
5 does not act improperly,
is not selfish, is not provoked,
and does not keep a record of wrongs.
6 Love finds no joy in unrighteousness
but rejoices in the truth.
7 It bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.
13 Now these three remain:
faith, hope, and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
Love is the quality and character of Jesus Christ. In verse 13, it shows love as the greatest quality because it comprises of the other two. A person who truly loves Jesus has placed their faith in Him and are waiting for the hope (expectation) of His return.
- Faith means to trust in Jesus with your whole life
-
Hope is very powerful because it encourages you to continue your walk with the Lord regardless of ANY tribulation one goes through. Knowing that our tribulation is only for a short time because all things will be made new.
Romans 8:20-21: 20 For the creation was subjected to futility—not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it—in the hope 21 that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God’s children.
The creation itself as hope in the sense that it will be remade in perfection (Revelation 21:1) because when Adam sinned, creation was cursed. Just as the creation will be remade so we who are in Christ will receive a new body that will never die so that we may be with Jesus for all eternity. This is our hope.

Love means that you are willing to sacrifice your life for the Gospel and Jesus Christ. Love also means that Jesus is always in your mind, thinking what you can do to make Him happy and rejoice. Love is so powerful because it gives you faith to believe in God’s Word and to hope (trust) in His promises.
This is how much Jesus, loves you
John 3:16 (Emphasis added by SpaniardVIII)
16 “For God loved the world in this way: God is about to disclose His plan that He had before the foundation of the world to show how much He really loves us. He gave His One and Only Son, The Father sends His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ whom He loves very much to punish Him for what we did so that everyone who believes in Him Once God has dealt with our sins than can the doors of heaven be open unto us with the keys, that is, faith in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life. Faith in Jesus will rescue us from eternal torment. Faith in Jesus will wash away all of our sins and make us new so that we can live in heaven with a righteous and Holy God. As a righteous Judge, He has to punish those who are evil but at the same time, He wants them to come to repentance so they can live with Him in paradise.
