A Message From The Lord

Deuteronomy 7:6 (HCSB)

6 For you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be His own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

This verse is a reference to the Israelites who came from the line of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob who was renamed Israel. That statement wasn’t only for the Jewish people but for all who would put their faith and trust in the true Living God, Jesus Christ. Scripture is always meant to be taken in two different ways so that we may live according to it.

  • Scripture is understood in its full context and in light of the time that it was written. For prophecies, one looks for future fulfillment and for those things that have been fulfilled. But the general way for Biblical interpretation is left to two ways of interpreting.
  • Scripture is understood in way of application to one’s life or situation.

For examples of  these two ways of interpretation we go to verses like:

Romans 15:4

For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures.

Psalm 102:18

This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.

Romans 4:22-25

22 Therefore, it was credited to him for righteousness. 23 Now it was credited to him was not written for Abraham alone, 24 but also for us. It will be credited to us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

Now saying that the Lord Jesus Christ has chosen you to be his special possession, He wants us to be holy because He is holy and to live a life that reflects His so that He may bless you with plenty of rewards. He will bring the rewards with Him when He comes for us. If you look at it, Jesus wants us to live in righteousness to reward us even though it isn’t us working but it is the Spirit who dwells inside us. Everything that Jesus does for His children is good. He chose you, to love you, to bless you so that you may enjoy your blessing with Him in the place that He has prepared for you.

The starting point for living for Christ takes place in our conversion by faith in Jesus then, we read about Him in Scripture, talk to Him in prayer and walk like Him in life. You don’t want people to see you but you want people to see Jesus in you.

In my cell phone today, I got a message that read: “a message from the Lord” which is a Bible app that I have which gave me Deuteronomy 7:6. Mind you, it never said it like that before. I know it wasn’t for me to keep in my heart but to share it with all believers in Jesus Christ. This message is for you too. God bless you all.
