The Gift Of God Thrown Into The Trash

rejecting-christianity

There was an old homeless man sleeping on a park bench downtown. He got up from the bench that he was laying on to cross the street to the other side. While the man was away, a bag of fresh bagels was placed where he was sleeping on. A gift was placed by a stranger who wanted the old man to have a meal and at the same time, give God all the glory by thanking Him. When he came back and saw the bag of bagels, his eyes widened and paused for a few seconds with thoughts running through his mind. Surprisingly, the man picked it up and walked directly to the dumpster and tossed the wonderful gift in the trash.

This is what Jesus faces every day by Atheists, Agnostics, false religion and those who do not associate with a name tag do when Jesus knocks at the door of their hearts to hand them the gift of eternal life (the message of Christ). They grab the message which is the Good News, walk to the nearest dumpster and toss it. If only they truly knew the consequences of their action.

John 3:36

36 The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.

Hebrews 10:29-31

29 How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, regarded as profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge His people. 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

Define False religion. Sounds like the author is defining it as anything but Christianity. It’s too bad the authors defines Christianity as an intolerant religion. I know many Christians who are welcoming to others of different faith, many churches offer inter-faith services.

    1. Hello David, it sounds weird how you are talking to me as a third person, anyhow this is what Scripture declares:

      John 14:6
6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

  2. I think I generally comment through the WordPress reader, so I wasn’t sure if this was your blog or someone reposted your blog.

But still, my good friend, it is still better to build bridges than to put up walls. How do you know it is true that the only way to the Father is through Jesus. As you know the follower of (Christianity) Islam and Judea believe in the same God. Do they not get to the Father? Where do they go?

Of course, as an “atheist”, I don’t believe in heaven(s) or hell(s)… except maybe the positive and negative we see here on earth. It’s all positive if that’s the way we view things. Maybe it’s that positive attitude I try to keep that leads me to keep asking you to be a christian who is inclusive and not exclusive of others.

I’d bet, the homeless guy is a bagel snob and he was disgusted that the bagels were not authentic NY Bagels 🙂

First of all, I would like to thank you for your questions.
Well, the only way anyone can know the truth is by what Holy Scripture says. The Bible has been put through the test through the century and is still as reliable as when it was first penned. For an example, prophecy, it said that Israel would become a nation once again (almost 2000 years from 70 A.D.) and the Jews from the four corners of the world will come back to the holy land. We have seen this prophecy fulfilled in our lifetime.

What am I saying with this that Scripture can be trusted because it is the truth? God’s Word clearly says that Jesus is the only way to heaven as a quoted it to you with John 14:6. I will let the Scriptures speak for itself.

“Of course, as an “atheist”, I don’t believe in heaven(s) or hell(s)… except maybe the positive and negative we see here on earth.”

David, you seem like a bright person, I hope that you will reconsider one day about not believing in God’s existence and that you would not only believe in God but that you would put your trust in Jesus Christ who died in your place and on the third day rose from the grave.

Atheism is a religion and not science, I say this because science is observable but evolution cannot be proven. It cannot be proven because of creation itself and its complexity. No one was there to observe the creation of evolution, especially from one species to another.

“Well, the only way anyone can know the truth is by what Holy Scripture says.”
        So Judaism is the truth?

How about Ezekiel’s prophecy about Tyre (and then Egypt). Among many issues with the prophecy, Nebuchadnezzar and his army would be paid from their plunder of Tyre… yet the prophecy admits later Nebuchadnezzar army received no payment.. So they would reap the reward from Egypt… which also turned out to be false. If Tyre was suppose to disappear forever, why was there a Phoenician pope after the prophecy? Ezekiel was living and writing this prophecy during Nebuchadnezzar 13 year siege on Tyre.

“David, you seem like a bright person”, Thank you. And I enjoy learning about religion and their histories but I do no wish to follow one.

“Atheism is a religion and not science, I say this because science is observable but evolution cannot be proven. It cannot be proven because of creation itself and its complexity. No one was there to observe the creation of evolution, especially from one species to another.”

Atheism is neither religion or science. It is simply the answer to a question about belief in a god. Humanism, some forms of Buddhism are religions but atheism in itself is not. Science over Theism may be the focus of an atheist but some theist are interested in science as well.

Evolution… hmm, you added creation in there as well. Just to clarify, The Big Bang and Evolution are two different topics. and you are right, now one was here and no one knows for sure how everything got started but that doesn’t stop people from claiming it was a god. One is a scientific theory and the other is a religious belief. I myself am on the fence on most theories and beliefs.
We can study what we know. I’m pretty fascinated by the fossils I have found along a nearby river and lake. It makes me wonder, just how old these fossils are.

        Enjoy your day.

      2. Thanks for your comments David

        “So Judaism is the truth?”

Jesus is the fulfillment of Judaism. But Judaism today rejects the fulfilled Scripture that would bring them salvation in the Messiah, Jesus Christ. So to say it plainly, they do not have the truth since they reject the New Testament.

“Atheism is neither religion or science. It is simply the answer to a question about belief in a god. Humanism, some forms of Buddhism are religions but atheism in itself is not. Science over Theism may be the focus of an atheist but some theist are interested in science as well.”

Sorry to say David but I disagree with your assessment of Atheism. Atheism is a religion because it adheres to their so-called truths that they claim they know. They live according to this belief system which they believe there are no moral standards and there is no sin concept. Atheism is a religion if you like to admitted or not that’s fine but it is believed by faith.

“We can study what we know. I’m pretty fascinated by the fossils I have found along a nearby river and lake. It makes me wonder, just how old these fossils are.”

That’s cool, maybe they were the ones that died in the flood.

For me to answer your question on Eziekel, can you provide chapter and verse on what you are referring to?

  3. The Book of Hebrews sums it up there, SpaniardVIII. The fact that Atheists, Agnostics, and false religions refuse to recognize the need for Christ in their lives is hard to swallow.

We as Christians are only there not to forcd our religion onto others, but to show them the love of Christ and let them decide for themselves if they need Christ.

To answer your question David, Judaism, Islam and Christianity while believe in one God, the fact remains is do they believe that Christ is the Son of God. And the answer is No.

Islam believes that Jesus is just a prophet while Judaism rejects the notion that Jesus is the Messiah and are still waiting for the Messiah, despite Him already coming to them in human form.
