An illustration was shown to me last night when I had a dream. I believe that it was meant for someone.
In my dream
I was shown a forest full of pine trees. I also saw some on fire. Water was mentioned for its remedy.
The interpretation that was given to me
The pine trees represented people.
- Matthew 7:15-20, 15 “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves. 16 You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So you’ll recognize them by their fruit.
The fire consuming the trees represented hell.
- Luke 16:22-24, 22 One day the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torment in Hades, he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off, with Lazarus at his side. 24 ‘Father Abraham!’ he called out, ‘Have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this flame!’
The water represented salvation (faith in Jesus)
- John 4:10-14, 10 Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God, and who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would ask Him, and He would give you living water.”
11 “Sir,” said the woman, “You don’t even have a bucket, and the well is deep. So where do You get this ‘living water’? 12 You aren’t greater than our father Jacob, are You? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and livestock.”
13 Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. 14 But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again—ever! In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up within him for eternal life.”
What I understood in my dream was that all of us will be consumed by the fire (hell) but if we accept the free gift that Jesus offers (the water), He will give us eternal life. Faith in Jesus simply means to accept that He took the punishment that we deserve upon Himself and on the third day He resurrected which proved who He claimed to be and what will be. Having a desire to change our lives for righteousness (accepting the conviction of the Holy Spirit) and to acknowledge that the only way it is possible is to ask Jesus to forgive us for sinning against Him and to change us.
Friend, if you are being convicted by God about the direction you are headed, accept it. Ask Jesus to change your direction and that you are willing to follow Him wherever He may lead you. Jesus wants the best for you, not in material gain but in spiritual gain. Those who work for the kingdom of heaven will receive from Jesus, treasure (Matthew 6:19-21), not because we deserve it but because we said yes to Jesus and allowed Him to use us.
Remember, our life on this earth is only but a short one.
