Mediums and any other spiritual guidance apart from the Bible pretend to be good but in reality, they are pure evil
Acts 16:16
Once, as we were on our way to prayer, a slave girl met us who had a spirit of prediction. She made a large profit for her owners by fortune-telling.
Behind every medium, fortune-teller, spiritist, palm reader, and any other occultic practices is a demon with that person.
It doesn’t stop there. False teachers, Idols, or any New Age books are accompanied by demonic entities.
False teachers:
1 Kings 13:16-19
16 But he answered, “I cannot go back with you, eat bread, or drink water with you in this place, 17 for a message came to me by the word of the Lord: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water there or go back by the way you came.’” 18 He said to him, “I am also a prophet like you. An angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’” The old prophet deceived him, 19 and the man of God went back with him, ate bread in his house, and drank water.
Idols
1 Corinthians 10:14-21
14 Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. 15 I am speaking as to wise people. Judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing that we give thanks for, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for all of us share that one bread. 18 Look at the people of Israel. Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in what is offered on the altar? 19 What am I saying then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 No, but I do say that what they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to participate with demons! 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot share in the Lord’s table and the table of demons.
New Age books & Extra-biblical sources
1 Timothy 4:1-2
Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared.
Matthew 15:1-9
Then Pharisees and scribes came from Jerusalem to Jesus and asked, 2 “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat!” 3 He answered them, “And why do you break God’s commandment because of your tradition? 4 For God said:
Honor your father and your mother; and,
The one who speaks evil of father or mother
must be put to death.
5 But you say, ‘Whoever tells his father or mother, “Whatever benefit you might have received from me is a gift committed to the temple”— 6 he does not have to honor his father.’ In this way, you have revoked God’s word because of your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you when he said:
8 These people honor Me with their lips,
but their heart is far from Me.
9 They worship Me in vain,
teaching as doctrines the commands of men.”
This is why I strongly encourage all of my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus to always have the Full Armor of God on (Ephesians 6:10-18). We live in dangerous times and you are a marked person. The evil spirits won’t stop until you are destroyed. Jesus is our only hope and strength. We have overcome the demonic forces by placing our faith in Jesus and holding tight to the Word of God. That is our weapon and our spiritual food. As long as we continue to mirror God’s Word in our life, we will overcome darkness with Christ’s righteousness.
If we neglect Scripture, we will be in trouble. The only way we can get closer to Jesus is through His Word. Remember that. Don’t ever forget it.
May the Lord Jesus Christ give all of His children a hunger and thirst for His righteousness.
I just spent sometime reading elsewhere about past philosophers and theologians, and it was becoming clear that many of them could be right in some ways, and very wrong in others. It seems possible that many untruths are mixed with or based in some actual truth.
It makes me wary of all the opinions that are out there, and woe to us who prefer our perceived relative truths over God’s absolute truth.
Thank you for this post. Michael.

Hey Michael, I appreciate you commenting. What you said is very true. I did use a lot of commentaries to help me understand some of the text of Scripture in the past but after reading the Bible more and asking the Lord to help me understand, I see myself not using them at all. Now, I can’t really see myself using them because I want the Holy Spirit to speak to me directly from Scripture. I just allow Scripture to interpret Scripture and the meaning being in the immediate context.
“I just spent sometime reading elsewhere about past philosophers and theologians, and it was becoming clear that many of them could be right in some ways, and very wrong in others.”
I like what you said here because it is true, many theologians are very biased. They either swing in one direction or the other.
For an example: John Macarthur who is a good teacher said something in the past that blew me away in a negative sense. He said that in the end times you can get the mark of the beast (666) and still repent and get saved. Now, I know better than that because in the Book of Revelation it clearly states that if anyone gets the mark of the beast, they shall be cast into the Lake of Fire. In another passage, it says to persevere in reference to the saints in not getting the mark.
That is why I like to read the Bible for myself and learn from the Holy Spirit.
There are a lot of good teachers out there but we must be very careful which commentary and persons we are listing to.

Thank you for agreeing. I do feel the need for assistance in any biblical exegesis as I’m not qualified to do anything but repeat what I hear. Wonderful teachers like MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, John Piper, and even Francis Chan (what!?) are where I get much of my basis.
But, I also recognize, from all of their teachings, that I am not to fully trust any one teacher, only fully trust God’s Holy Spirit to guide my perspective as to the truth.
This means more time in the Word by myself, more time in prayer, and more time in relationship with God’s Spirit in me.

What you said, says it all. You have the right attitude and direction. If you continue in that road, you will see how God is going to use you for His glory. You know, in the Book of James it says in chapter 1 verse 5, Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.
Ask the Lord for understnding and He will give it to you.

Excellent post, Spaniardviii. There are false teachings that can lead many new and “experienced ” Christians down a different path away from God.
That is why we have to continually read the Bible and pray for strength and guidance through the Holy Spirit.
