1 How happy is the one who does not
walk in the advice of the wicked
or stand in the pathway with sinners
or sit in the company of mockers!
Happy–Esher in Hebrew means joyful or to be in bliss.
True happiness is found after one rejects any sinful participation with sinful men.
2 Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction,
and he meditates on it day and night.
Those who do reject a lifestyle of sin shows that they love the Word of God and desire to please the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams
that bears its fruit in its season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
When you base your life in God’s Word, God’s favor shall be poured out on you. It does not matter the size of the whirlwind headed your way, you shall not be moved.
4 The wicked are not like this;
instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.
The wicked in their case has no anchor to keep them secure and immovable because they have rejected the Word of God.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand up in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
In the judgment seat of Christ, the Atheists, the Mormons, the Jehovah Witnesses, Islam, and any other group who has rejected the inerrancy of the Word of God and the person of Jesus Christ as revealed in Scripture shall be found guilty.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.
The Lord God is watching those for their good who love His Word and are obeying it. But, those who do not love His Word, have walked away from the only person that can give them eternal life, Jesus Christ.
