John 17:15-17
15 I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one.
16 They are not of the world even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them in your truth. Your word is truth.
Jesus is not praying to take us out of harm’s way but, to protect us from the demonic powers through the power of the Word of God, which transforms us into the image of Jesus Christ. It provides us with strong faith to make our trust in the Lord steadfast.
Remember what happened to Judas Iscariot, how Satan entered him and used him to betray Christ, afterward, Satan convinced him to commit suicide. God’s Word protects us from falling away from Him.
1John 2:14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
The only way, we get sanctified is by reading and living the Bible. It is the source that God uses to transform us into Jesus’ image. The Bible replaces our character and adds His.
How many so-called Christians have abandoned the Bible? Preachers like Andy Stanley have rejected the Bible as necessary for the Christian walk. He is deceiving countless believers and I pray that they will leave his church, finding one that preaches that you must trust in the Scriptures.
Why the attacks on the Bible? Because it is the source from which saving faith comes.
Romans 10:17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Luke 11:28 But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”
Matthew 7:24 “Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.
Matthew 7:25 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock.
The endurance of our faith depends upon our unwavering trust in the Scriptures. If your trust in Scripture cracks, so does your faith in Jesus Christ. Do you want to see what that looks like? Go read the story of the fall of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:1-6.
