Hardship Develops Our Character To That Of Christ

1 Soon the people began to complain about their hardship in the hearing of the LORD, and when He heard them, His anger was kindled, and fire from the LORD blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp. 2 And the people cried out to Moses, and he prayed to the LORD, and the fire died down. 3 So that place was called Taberah, because the fire of the LORD had burned among them.

-Numbers 11:1-3, BSB

Hardship is the only way to make a believer grow spiritually. It also shows how much trust the person has for Christ Jesus. The reason why the LORD got so mad with the Israelites was that their mental default was to go back to Egypt where they had plenty of food to eat [Numbers 14:3]. Egypt was a symbol of one being a slave to sin, and that is where God rescued them.

Jesus delivered us from our sins to set us free from bondage, but when we start to go through difficult times, it might tempt us to revert to a sinful lifestyle as before for the sake of comfort. It is a slap in the face of Almighty God.

The Value of Christ’s Blood

God sent His Son to pay the ultimate price for us. That price was valued very high, and only Jesus had the means to pay for it. The price was His life because only Jesus was perfect, and He kept the whole Law of God without breaking one single command.

How much do you value what Jesus did for you on the cross? If you are going through hardship, don’t complain, but ask the Lord to give you the strength you need to endure it. Also, ask Jesus to produce the kind of fruit that will glorify Him.
