31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift you men like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail; and you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
-Luke 22:31-32, NASB 2020
Genuine believers are walking targets. Nothing can come our way without the Lord allowing it. Jesus permits the devil to tempt us because that is the only way that our faith can grow. See below.
2 Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
-James 1:2-4, NASB 2020
You will see two results when it comes down to putting two professing Christians through the fire of testing. One will come out refined with stronger faith, while the other will abandon his faith in Christ, showing that he was never saved in the first place [1 John 2:19]. See the two examples below.
Peter’s [a genuine believer] testing made his faith stronger: Luke 22:32 “but I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail; and you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Judah Iscariot’s [not a genuine believer] testing made him abandon his faith: Luke 2247-48 “47 While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading the way for them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him. 48 But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
What type of faith do you have?
When testing comes, will you come out shiny and refined, or will you call it quits?
If you are a Christian, know that you will be attacked for the destruction of your faith. Be of good cheer, for Jesus has prayed for you to endure the hits of the enemy.
Preach!

Trials are a reason to be cheerful…it means that I am doing something right in my walk with the Almighty that Satan is worried!

Yes. Walking toward the devil means we will clash with him sooner or later unless we are found to be walking in the same direction.
Thank you for your comment.
