So the sons of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not stop crying out to the LORD our God for us, that He will save us from the hand of the Philistines!-1 Samuel 7:8, NASB 2020
It is very prudent to get to know someone in the faith who’s mature that you can go to when you need someone to cry out to the Lord on your behalf.
Now Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, and the Philistines advanced to battle Israel. But the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day against the Philistines and confused them, so that they were struck down before Israel.-1 Samuel 7:10, NASB 2020
Our main enemy is the devil and his fallen angels, not men. How powerful is prayer? Prayer moves God to come to our aid to accomplish that which we have asked of Him to do for us. The devil hates prayer because he knows that once God gets up from His throne, he is defeated before it happens.
The phrase “the LORD thundered with a great thunder” refers to great power. Through God’s Word, all things were created. He speaks and it comes to pass. If the LORD is for you, who can be against you? No one.
Remember, friends, God is always listening to our cry for help. Even if it seems that He is not listening, don’t give up. Jesus said in Luke 18:1 “Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not become discouraged.”
Sometimes we can lose heart, but we must keep going forward because turning back is not an option.
The verse below will show how the Lord feels about a person who turns back and abandons his faith.
BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE WILL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM.-Hebrews 10:38, NASB 2020
The opposite of “pleasure” in this passage would be the word detestable. Those who keep their faith strong in the Lord will please Him, but those who lose their faith, He abhors. One can only please God with faith.
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.-Hebrews 11:6, NASB 2020
We get faith through the reading of God’s Word [Romans 10:17]. If we don’t ever read and then try to pray to the Lord, which will be without faith, it will be detestable to Him.
One who turns his ear away from listening to the Law, Even his prayer is an abomination.-Proverbs 28:9, NASB 2020
How do we please the Lord? First, you have to be a believer in Jesus Christ. Second, you have to be in the Word daily to feed your faith. Knowing God’s Word, we can pray His will and ask the Lord to be use for His glory, bringing people to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
