Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
-Revelation 2:10
We must not be afraid of the devil because…“You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” -1 John 4:4
Arm Yourselves With Steadfast Faith
The devil comes to bring us pain and suffering, testing us to see if we will abandon Jesus Christ. His testing is not forever, but for a short time, we just have to hang in there until the time of our tribulation passes by.
The phrase “Be faithful even unto death” refers to enduring any type of punishment that we are served with in any situation of our lives. The size of our pain, small or great cannot make us forfeit our trust in Jesus Christ. God allows these testings to show us and those around us who really belongs to Him. If you are a genuine believer, it will make your faith stronger, but a false convert will fall away. If your life is on the line for your faith in Jesus, then death is how you will glory the Lord. And when you open up your eyes in heaven, Jesus will in front of all his angels give you the crown of life to honor you for your unwavering faith in Him.
18 Truly, truly, I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God.
-John 21:18-19
Stay strong in the midst of the storm, remembering that Jesus Christ is our anchor, keeping us from being tossed by the stormy waves into the open sea to sink our faith. Hold on dear brothers, hold on. May God’s favor be upon you.
