Don’t Allow Access To The Devil

1 You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? 2 This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?

-Galatians 3:1-2, NASB

The church in Galatia was being “bewitched” into believing that they had to go back to the Law to be right in God’s eyes, forsaking the righteousness of Jesus Christ (Galatians 5:1-4).

The word “bewitched” means that someone has cast an evil spell on a person or given an evil eye. These practices are occultic in nature. It seems that witchcraft can be done for deceiving weak believers if we are not careful. The moment a believer opens up a door to the enemy, he will give the demon access to his life. The reason that happens is because when we are doing things we shouldn’t, God will step back for our disobedience and take away our protection for a short time.

After the believer has realized what he has done, he repents. The Lord then helps him to get back up to walk in His ways.

How to you open up the door to demonic spirits?

Anything occultic that you bring into your home—there is a demon attached to that item. Let’s say you went to Walmart and bought a Ouija Board, open it up and started to play with it. You just gave permission to a demon to take claim of your house and you. Now a big spiritual fight ensues for the destruction of your faith in Jesus Christ. All of a sudden, it becomes hard to pray, read Scripture, and do anything for the Lord. You see yourself always in a bad mood for no particular reason. What the demon is doing is choking your faith and causing it to die slowly by keeping you from feeding it through God’s Word and prayer.

The longer you keep those things in your house, the harder it is to come back to the Lord. The first thing you must do is repent, telling the Lord that what you did was wrong and you are asking for His forgiveness. The second thing you must do is throw the occult items into the trash and the third thing to do, after you got rid of those items is to pray and get into the Word (Isaiah 1:16). After you have done all those things, your faith will strengthen so that you’ll get the upper hand on the demon and will have the necessary faith to cast it out of your house in the name of Jesus.
