Like a trampled spring and a polluted well, So is a righteous person who gives way before the wicked.
Proverbs 25:26, NASB
When a Christian sees a false prophet—allowing him or her to continue to pass before his eyes, without sounding the alarm, you have become a well that’s not good for quenching one’s thirst.
Cold water for the one in a desert revives his body. Hot water for the one in the cold, keeps him warm, but lukewarm water does neither.
What type of spiritual water are you? Are you like cold water for the one in the desert and hot water for the one in winter, or are you lukewarm water that doesn’t rock the boat?
As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, do you keep other Christians from falling into deception?
What do you do with a false Christian who seems charismatic and a flatterer?
Many questions—what to do? Do you find yourself saying, “I don’t want to sound mean, or push anyone away…I’ll let them stay around me and maybe, they can see Jesus in me so that it would change them”.
What does love with the truth say?
Jesus is love and the truth—this is what He said
“31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” -John 8:31-32
Knowing the truth through God’s Word is what will set free a false teacher. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it says, “16 All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.”
A true Christian will rebuke and correct, for the purpose of redirecting a false prophet to the truth for repentance and salvation. For a wayward believer, it will bring him back—to righteousness—to be equipped for the good work that the God of heaven has assigned for his life.
Being passive, in the middle, makes you an enemy of the truth. The truth, is not passive but cuts like a sword—“For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” -Hebrews 4:12. God’s Word preached with gentleness and loving kindness toward those who are deceived and on the wrong path in life will bring them back to the light.
How invested are you in the truth (the Word of God)? You want to see the Holy Spirit alive in a person? Throw at him a false preacher or teacher, and you will see his passion for the truth arise, defending it until the end—not sitting on the sidelines
