Verse Of The Day Q&A: Be An Encouragement To Someone

36 Joseph, a Levite and a Cypriot by birth, the one the apostles called Barnabas, which is translated Son of Encouragement

Acts 4:36, HCSB

How can we encourage those who follow Christ? One way would be by supporting them financially—it will motivate them to continue in the ministry that God has given them, and it will show them that God is the one moving others, on their behalf, so that they may continue doing His will.

There are other ways to encourage your brothers and sisters in Christ. You can share a verse that has to do with what they are going through or, you can offer your time. Whatever it is, remember, you are doing it unto the Lord and He will bless you.

  • Have you encouraged someone this new year?
  • Have you ever been encouraged by someone else, and how did it make you feel?

With what is happening to the U.S. and the world, make it a goal to encourage someone who you know needs it.

  1. I’ve been really trying to encourage this one young man from youth group lately, I constantly feel as if something is wrong, like he’s not doing okay, and he rarely even opens up to anyone it seems. I talked to his sister tonight at youth group and it shed more light on the situation, but I can’t help but still feel worried about him because God has gifted me with empathy as well as perceptiveness to what it is going on around me, especially with people. My heart really hurts when I can’t help someone, or when they just shrug me off. But, one thing I have not been doing for this young man is praying for him lately, and so that’s what I’m going to do as another way to hopefully show encouragement.

  2. Something happened at youth group and now he doesn’t really want to go, each Monday (the day before youth group) as of late I’ve been texting him, trying to encourage him. I constantly tell him that I believe something is wrong, but he says the opposite and that he’s okay. But is he really? I have reason to believe not really because of his issues. But, through prayer hopefully God will soften his heart.
