The Greatest Love Shown To Men
“For God so loved” God is love and His love is toward His creation.
“the world” It refers to humanity who were created in God’s image.
“that He gave His only Son” God’s love for all humanity was seen in His Son, Jesus Christ. God punished His Son for our sins by nailing Him to a cross to give us access to heaven.
“so that everyone who believes in Him” This access is only attainable through faith in Jesus Christ. Faith means to believe and to accept what Jesus did for you on the cross—paid for your sins so that you can now be forgiven for all the wrong that you have done.
“will not perish” Those who are found to be in Christ will not go to hell, but shall be rescued.
“but have eternal life.” Everyone after death, regardless if they have believed in Jesus or not will live forever. Eternal life makes all the difference where one will end up. There are two eternal destinations—Eternal life refers to heaven and Eternal damnation refers to hell. Those who have had their sins forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ, will live forever with the Father in heaven and with the Son.
