Jesus Has Zeal For His Temple. You Are That Temple

15 They came to Jerusalem, and He went into the temple complex and began to throw out those buying and selling in the temple. He overturned the money changers’ tables and the chairs of those selling doves, 16 and would not permit anyone to carry goods through the temple complex. 17 Then He began to teach them: “Is it not written, My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations? But you have made it a den of thieves!”

Mark 11:15-17 HCSB

Jesus strongly loves His temple because there the people from all over the nations come to worship and seek the Lord’s face.

And His disciples remembered that it is written: Zeal for Your house will consume Me. -John 2:17

What did Jesus do when He saw the merchants taking the opportunity to sell their animals and at the same time, robbing the people. They were using God’s temple for sin and were distracting the people from seeking the Lord.

After Jesus ascended to heaven, He sent His followers the Holy Spirit, making them now the temple of God. From that moment forward, anyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ, receives the Holy Spirit and their bodies becomes His temple.

Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s sanctuary and that the Spirit of God lives in you? -1 Corinthians 3:16

Jesus has a strong zeal for His temple. If you have become His temple, imagine His zeal for you to live a life of righteousness and of prayer. If you are doing something that is displeasing in God’s eyes this is what Jesus will do to you. See below.

After making a whip out of cords, He drove everyone out of the temple complex with their sheep and oxen. He also poured out the money changers’ coins and overturned the tables. -John 2:15

Jesus will chastise you to cleanse your life of sin and anything else that you are doing that is not good in His sight. The Lord wants to see you worship Him by walking in His ways, forsaking evil and proclaiming to others Christ’s death and resurrection so that those who hear may repent—changing their minds of the direction their lives are headed and come to Jesus for salvation.

If you stray from the Lord, expect to get disciplined. To avoid it is very simple. Just obey His Word and if you fall, repent immediately.
