8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:8-9 NASB
If we are walking according to God’s Word, we shouldn’t be afraid because the Lord is walking with us. This life at times will feel scary for some, but with Christ by our side, nothing can harm us unless God allows it for testing and strengthening our faith (James 1:2-4).
The way that Satan attacks our faith is through fear. Fear is like kryptonite to our faith which weakens it because worry takes your trust away from Christ. Jesus will not work through a person that doesn’t trust Him. That is why being in the Scriptures is very important. It helps us overcome fear.
Reading and thinking about what we have read in the Scriptures will enable us to be “strong and courageous”.
God’s Word empowers our faith in Him and makes it clear the path we should take.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” -Psalm 119:105
The more we are in the Word, the better it will be for us to access it from our memory. That type of mindset will keep us from falling into the devil’s trap.
