For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is our rock which our life is built upon. We cannot follow a Jesus of our imagination. Our spiritual life must be based upon the Word of God and the knowledge of the Son of God must come from it. No one can add a different foundation that has been laid on a believer’s life (Matthew 7:24-27). If you do, it will cancel the real Jesus and put in its place a false one. However, we build upon the foundation in someone’s life to become more Christlike. God will judge our works to see if it was biblical or not.
Salvation is by faith alone in Jesus Christ and in what He did for us on the cross. That is a biblical foundation that cannot be added to. You cannot add to what the Scriptures have already revealed. If you do, you will void the truth, making it ineffective in bringing a person to salvation. Be careful what you teach to others. It must be biblically sound.
