61 But Jesus remained silent and made no reply. Again the high priest questioned Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?” 62 “I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.” 63 At this, the high priest tore his clothes and declared, “Why do we need any more witnesses? 64 You have heard the blasphemy. What is your verdict?” And they all condemned Him as deserving of death.

The Sanhedrin couldn’t find two witnesses that would agree on the same accusation against Jesus. So, they flat out asked Him if He was the Son of God. The elders knew that the title Son of God meant deity. We see this in John 5:16-18.
16 Now because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews began to persecute Him. 17 But Jesus answered them, “To this very day My Father is at His work, and I too am working.” 18 Because of this, the Jews tried all the harder to kill Him. Not only was He breaking the Sabbath, but He was even calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.
John 5:16-18
The moment Jesus declared that He was by quoting Daniel 7:13, they ripped their clothes and said that He blasphemed. The verdict that the Jewish elders gave was death.
Jesus wasn’t condemned to the cross because the priests and scribes were jealous, even though they were, but because Jesus declared to be God.
Jesus said in John 8:24, That is why I told you that you would die in your sins. For unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” The only way to make it to heaven is to believe in the right Jesus. We have to believe in who Jesus claimed to be. And in John 14, Jesus said that He is God.
All false religions believe in a Jesus that strays from the teachings of the New Testament. Apparently, the Jesus they present needs help to save people from their sins, so he utilizes idols, sacraments, and one’s merit. Why do they preach such a Jesus? Because Satan has made sure to reintroduce his own Jesus through his other sources like the Watchtower magazine, the Qur’an, and the book of Mormon, to name a few.
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
2 Corinthians 4:4
I cannot stress enough the importance of reading the Scriptures every day and asking the Holy Spirit for understanding because the Scripture teaches that the closer we get to the return of Christ, the worse deception will get.
