The Danger Of Anxiety

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Philippians 4:6 BSB

The word “anxious” in Greek (Strong’s 3309) means something being pulled apart by fracturing (Strong’s 3308) to divide into pieces.

When a Christian starts to sink deep down in worry about something that hasn’t occurred yet, but does have the potential in bringing a bad outcome, it will start to fracture his faith in trusting in the power of God. His faith about God rescuing him will quickly start to fade away.

Let’s use a building as an example. The building as a whole is strong, but the moment the structural integrity of the build starts to crack, its strength begins to decline. If something is not done quickly, the building will collapse and kill everyone inside. That’s the same way with our faith. Worry is what causes the fracture, but the way to fix it is through prayer. Prayer starts the repairing process. When you get on your knees, the Lord begins your healing by strengthening your faith which will counter your anxiety.
