Verse By Verse Through Galatians (1:22)

22 I was personally unknown, however, to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. -Galatians 1:22 BSB

Judea was the capital of Jerusalem, and James, the brother of Jesus, was one of the leaders there, see verse 19 and its commentary. Paul hadn’t yet gone to the believers in Judea and made himself known to them, but, as we will see in verse 23, he was known to them as the persecutor of Christians but was now a believer in Christ. Paul’s testimony had spread far and wide pretty quickly.
