Verse By Verse Through Galatians (2:10)

10 They only asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do. -Galatians 2:10 BSB

The apostles and the leader of the church of Jerusalem (James) reminded Paul, while on his mission trips, to never forget to help those in humble conditions whenever the opportunity arises with the direction of the Holy Spirit. Paul always had a heart for the poor because he understood the importance of such an act, as he used to be a Pharisee and knew the Scriptures very well.

How important is it to remember the poor and stretch out one’s hand with a blessing?

Whoever gives to the poor will not be in need, but he who hides his eyes will receive many curses. -Proverbs 28:27 BSB

A generous man will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. -Proverbs 22:9 BSB

Whoever oppresses the poor taunts their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors Him. -Proverbs 14:31 BSB

Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and He will repay the lender. -Proverbs 19:17 BSB
