Why Does Satan Believe That He Can Dethrone God?

Jesus vs Satan

That question always was an enigma to me. Let us go into Scripture and see the times that Satan thought that he could either take God’s place or make the Son of God worship him.

Isaiah 14:12-14
12 Shining morning star,
how you have fallen from the heavens!
You destroyer of nations,
you have been cut down to the ground.
13 You said to yourself:
“I will ascend to the heavens;
I will set up my throne
above the stars of God.
I will sit on the mount of the gods’ assembly,
in the remotest parts of the North.
14 I will ascend above the highest clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.”

The five “I’s” basically means that he thinks, somehow he has convinced himself that he has the power and intellect to dethrone the God who has infinite knowledge and great power.

Matthew 4:8
8 Again, the Devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 And he said to Him, “I will give You all these things if You will fall down and worship me.”

Here, Satan believes that by twisting Scripture, he can deceive Jesus. He believes this because he did it once with Adam and Eve who were both without sin. As you can see, Satan puts Jesus in the same category as regular men. The only reasonable conclusion for his delusional thinking is seeing the Son of God in a human body and perceiving His ability to sin even though that is impossible.

The reason why I believe Satan has this mentality is his blindness to God’s character and misunderstanding of who God really is. He thinks that God has a weakness and he is determined to find it but in vain will he look.

Why do we have so many cults and false religion? Because they have a wrong view of the person of Jesus Christ. They mold and shape God into their image and way of thinking. They do this through other sources making them inspired, not that they really are, but they make it be in their hearts.

The Word of God is the Anchor of the Truth. It grounds the soul in righteousness to obey God’s will. Any deviation will drift the person into deep deception, thinking he/she is serving Christ but in reality, they are serving Satan.

Let us not misunderstand who God is but we must strive to know the Living God of the Bible for the sake of our souls.

Idols: Soul Catchers

mary-worship

1 Kings 16:13

13 This happened because of all the sins of Baasha and those of his son Elah, which they committed and caused Israel to commit, provoking the Lord God of Israel with their worthless idols.

How do you provoke the Lord’s anger against you? By setting up religious images or idols into your house which will start to entice your heart to leave the Lord for it.

Idols are also known as “Soul Catchers” because it captures your mind and heart to steal you away from the truth into its lies.

You cannot serve two masters at the same time, either you make the idol your god or make Jesus Christ your God.

Your heart contains only one seat. Who are you going to give it to?

Why Wouldn’t Jesus Allow The Demon To Say Who He Was?

The demon whispering lies to a false teacher

Mark 1:23-26

23 Just then a man with an unclean spirit was in their synagogue. He cried out, 24 “What do You have to do with us, Jesus—Nazarene? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” 25 But Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” 26 And the unclean spirit convulsed him, shouted with a loud voice, and came out of him.

Why wouldn’t Jesus allow the demon to say the truth about who He was?

What we first have to understand is even if a false teacher says or teaches one part of Scripture correctly and we accept it, we unknowingly will give him legitimacy as being a true Christian or even worse, God is using him. Those who witness us accept it will think that it is okay to believe some of their teachings as from the Holy Spirit, even though a false teacher does not have the Holy Spirit. Remember, false teachers are used by demons (1 Timothy 4:1-3) and their purpose is to teach the truth with small lies. Deception sounds like the truth and if we are not in the Word we won’t be able to see his true intentions behind his message. By accepting a teaching from someone who is false, you are putting yourself in danger and others to be deceived.

Never ever receive a doctrine, even if it sounds correct from a person that you know full well believes in unbiblical doctrines because it will always contain lies.

Let me illustrate it this way. When we go fishing, we must first deceive the fish with the bait. The bait is real but wrapped over a deadly hook. The fisherman allows the fish to nibble on the bait which is seemingly harmless until it tries to swallow all of it and in the process gets hooked.

That is how a false teacher directed by demons work. They will give you the truth as they hear it from true Christians because believe me, they didn’t get it from the Holy Spirit since they are devoid of Him. Once you have accepted some of their teachings, they will introduce their erroneous ones and it will be more palatable for you to receive it.

Now, we understand why Jesus didn’t accept the demon’s confession because the demon wasn’t really there to promote Jesus, just like a false teacher.

If Jesus would have allowed the demon to speak and proclaim who He was without the demon being rebuked by Him, it would have been easier for the evil spirit to deceive the crowd. Once the demon saw that they believed him, he would have introduced a false narrative of Jesus to deceive them all.

1 John 4:1

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to determine if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
