Verse Of The Day Q&A: The Importance Of Trusting In God’s Word

Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field that the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’”

Genesis 3:1 BSB

Did you ever find yourself doubting the Word of God? When Satan comes to deceive you, he does it in a very subtle way so that you won’t be aware that you are in the process of being deceived. Satan will always try to make you doubt even a small amount of God’s Word. The moment you do, without you being aware, your faith has already started to die.

  • Do you question any part of Scripture?
  • Have you ever doubted God’s Word as a Christian? If so, what made you come back to trust in it again?

In Romans 10:17, it says, “Consequently, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”

Saving faith comes through God’s Word—the message of the gospel. Jesus said that the only way to feed your spirit is by reading the Scriptures. If Satan wants to defeat you, he will starve you first.

Verse Of The Day Q&A: The Power Of Prayer

And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

Acts 4:31, NASB

The word “shaken” is to show the power that comes through prayer. Reading Scripture accompanied with prayer—seeking God’s strength and direction will equip you spiritually to share the gospel effectively. Prayer itself is not that power, but it is how we can communicate with the most powerful being—Jesus Christ, who created the heavens and the earth through His word.

If the Lord knows everything before it happens and what we need, why do we need to pray? Prayer shapes us to reflect—the person of Jesus Christ— it keeps us in a state of humility, we thank the Lord with prayer and it shows our obedience. Prayer is another way to worship Him, and keeps us dependent on the Lord.

  • When you feel sad and anxious, do you get on your knees?
  • Is prayer part of your lifestyle?

The only way you will grow spiritually, depends on the time that you are willing to invest in the Lord. The Word of God is what transforms your mind—obtaining a godly character. Prayer keeps your faith healthy and strong—moving forward.

Verse Of The Day Q&A: Be An Encouragement To Someone

36 Joseph, a Levite and a Cypriot by birth, the one the apostles called Barnabas, which is translated Son of Encouragement

Acts 4:36, HCSB

How can we encourage those who follow Christ? One way would be by supporting them financially—it will motivate them to continue in the ministry that God has given them, and it will show them that God is the one moving others, on their behalf, so that they may continue doing His will.

There are other ways to encourage your brothers and sisters in Christ. You can share a verse that has to do with what they are going through or, you can offer your time. Whatever it is, remember, you are doing it unto the Lord and He will bless you.

  • Have you encouraged someone this new year?
  • Have you ever been encouraged by someone else, and how did it make you feel?

With what is happening to the U.S. and the world, make it a goal to encourage someone who you know needs it.
