How Important Is God’s Word To You?

Sola-Scriptura

John 8:31-32

31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you continue in my word, you really are my disciples. 32 You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

These two verses made me realize something very important. What makes a TRUE follower of Jesus Christ?

The answer in the passage is “If you continue in my word…” What does that really mean anyhow?

It is to believe every word that is written in Holy Scripture. To live one’s life based upon the Scriptures. If a person has the Holy Spirit, he or she will do so, for the Spirit of God will urge them on.

A person is free because they walk in the light of God’s Word [Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path”] and not in the shade of false doctrine. A person is blind [captive] because of the dark. They are set free [can see] because of the Scripture who points them to the real Jesus.

When a professing Christian says that there are errors in the Bible, contradictions, and even deny authorship of the Scripture to the Holy Spirit, that individual is NOT a disciple of Christ.

You want to know who follows Christ and loves Him? Ask the person what they feel about the Bible and do they believe it is the very words of God? The last question would be, do you stake your life on it?

The answer they give you will reveal their heart towards Jesus.

Verse of the Day Q&A: As A Christian, What Gear Are You On?

Luke 9:62

But Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Bible

When a person gets saved, it is like receiving a new vehicle with only one gear “D” forward, there is no going back or apostatizing for a person with the Holy Spirit.

1. The “R” reverse means to go back to one sinful lifestyle.
2. The “N” neutral means to be a lukewarm Christian, political correctness or having some traits of the world and of Christ, like oil and water which does not mix.
3. The “P” park means that the believer is stagnant in his or her spiritual growth being in great danger.

  • What type of car are you in?
  • Is your car from the world or from the Lord?
  • What gear are you driving now?

There Is A Spiritual Battle For Your Soul To Apostatize

Mediums

Mediums and any other spiritual guidance apart from the Bible pretend to be good but in reality, they are pure evil

Acts 16:16

Once, as we were on our way to prayer, a slave girl met us who had a spirit of prediction. She made a large profit for her owners by fortune-telling.

Behind every medium, fortune-teller, spiritist, palm reader, and any other occultic practices is a demon with that person.

It doesn’t stop there. False teachers, Idols, or any New Age books are accompanied by demonic entities.

False teachers:

1 Kings 13:16-19

16 But he answered, “I cannot go back with you, eat bread, or drink water with you in this place, 17 for a message came to me by the word of the Lord: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water there or go back by the way you came.’” 18 He said to him, “I am also a prophet like you. An angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’” The old prophet deceived him, 19 and the man of God went back with him, ate bread in his house, and drank water.

Idols

1 Corinthians 10:14-21

14 Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. 15 I am speaking as to wise people. Judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing that we give thanks for, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for all of us share that one bread. 18 Look at the people of Israel. Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in what is offered on the altar? 19 What am I saying then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 No, but I do say that what they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to participate with demons! 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot share in the Lord’s table and the table of demons.

New Age books & Extra-biblical sources

1 Timothy 4:1-2

Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared.

Matthew 15:1-9

Then Pharisees and scribes came from Jerusalem to Jesus and asked, 2 “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat!” 3 He answered them, “And why do you break God’s commandment because of your tradition? 4 For God said:

Honor your father and your mother; and,
The one who speaks evil of father or mother
must be put to death.

5 But you say, ‘Whoever tells his father or mother, “Whatever benefit you might have received from me is a gift committed to the temple”— 6 he does not have to honor his father.’ In this way, you have revoked God’s word because of your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you when he said:

8 These people honor Me with their lips,
but their heart is far from Me.
9 They worship Me in vain,
teaching as doctrines the commands of men.”

This is why I strongly encourage all of my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus to always have the Full Armor of God on (Ephesians 6:10-18). We live in dangerous times and you are a marked person. The evil spirits won’t stop until you are destroyed. Jesus is our only hope and strength. We have overcome the demonic forces by placing our faith in Jesus and holding tight to the Word of God. That is our weapon and our spiritual food. As long as we continue to mirror God’s Word in our life, we will overcome darkness with Christ’s righteousness.

If we neglect Scripture, we will be in trouble. The only way we can get closer to Jesus is through His Word. Remember that. Don’t ever forget it.

May the Lord Jesus Christ give all of His children a hunger and thirst for His righteousness.
