Continuing with Romans 1:31

31 They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless. -Romans 1:31 BSB

The word “senseless” in Greek means to be unintelligent due to a lack of spiritual wisdom. That type of person without spiritual wisdom will be driven in any direction that Satan decides to place him in. Some people who at one time claimed to follow Jesus but then apostatized and are now used by the enemy to attack the God of Scripture whom they claim doesn’t exist. Satan will only use to his full capacity, in the kingdom of darkness, the senseless.

The word “faithless” in Greek means one who breaks God’s law and is untrustworthy. When people become anti-God, it won’t be for the better, but the worse. No one can trust them, as they will stab you in the back to get ahead, or if they “feel” you are a threat to their health, financial stability, and status. They will show no mercy or compassion unless it benefits them.

The word “heartless” in Greek gives the meaning of being without affection and love. One can have superficial love—the love that the world exhibits—but at the same time be without real love. Real love shows compassion for strangers even though it won’t, in this world, benefit you. True love can only come by the Spirit of God, which is sacrificial love—putting others above you. A person without God cannot obtain such love.

The word “merciless” in Greek gives the meaning of being cruel, like having the power to do something to help an individual but instead refrains so that the person suffers. Before the Great Tribulation, society will show more hostility toward believers in Jesus Christ and even attempt to kill some of them because their hearts have become callous. A calloused heart (one who has completely rejected Jesus) cannot be penetrated and will die in a sinful state.

32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them. -Romans 1:32 BSB

Everyone is without excuse since God’s Word is vastly available, even for free. The conscience of godless people will condemn them for their sinful behavior because God’s law has been written in their hearts. All homosexuals, transgenders, thieves, adulterers, drug users, and the rest, who practice sins of all kinds, know full well that they are living wrong. Since they love their sin more than God, it pushes them to continue in that lifestyle and promote it to the youth through the education system, forcing society to accept it as virtuous. However, in God’s eyes, it is disgusting and will only bring those who practice such sins spiritual death after they fall into the hands of God’s judgment.

This ends the series of Romans 1.

28 Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.

Romans 1:28 BSB

The moment that an individual—from the heart—decides to reject the Lord Jesus Christ, He will give that person over to their sins, which is a way to say that their chances of going to heaven have passed and they will end up in hell—which precedes the second death. The second death occurs after the Great White Throne Judgment of Christ when He will take all those from Hades and cast them into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:11-15).

29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips

Romans 1:29 BSB

Once their spiritual state has become finalized, they will no longer contain any restraint when dealing with their sinful nature. They will become the epitome of sin in the likeness of their god, Satan. In 2 Timothy 3, the Scripture says that in the end times, the people will grow cold and become so depraved that they will emulate the time of Noah (Genesis 6).

30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents.

Romans 1:30 BSB

Their hearts will grow so dark that they will speak evil of what is good. Anything that has to do with God—society will consider Him detestable because the people will embrace wickedness as their father and depravity as their mother. These evil people will show no respect for others or those in authority. Not only will that generation live in such a manner—they will even come up with new ways to make themselves more evil. Parents during those times will find themselves powerless to raise their children in the right way, as the culture will be so bad and so influential that it will instill in kids and young adults to adhere to Satan’s path rather than God’s. The degree of sins they will commit will make any face who sees it change as seeing something grotesque.

We are entering the time of the end, and if you think what you see now can’t get any more dangerous and immoral—unethical mandates and moral decay, God’s Word says it will get much worse.

Continuing with Romans 1:24

24 Therefore God gave them over in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another.

Romans 1:24 BSB

There is a time of no return. The moment that a person has indefinitely rejected the Lord Jesus Christ in favor of one’s sin, God will give them over to it, and they will end up dying in that state without the possibility of getting saved. In this case, the sin that permeates society is homosexuality (see verses 26-27). We are living in this time.

25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen.

Romans 1:25 BSB

The decay of society’s morality begins when the people abandon God’s Word for a lie like another spirituality or the culture. Once the world heads in that direction, full-blown idolatry will surface in various shapes like statues, materialism, self, money, and status. The lie that we are seeing today that’s replacing God in many countries is liberal socialism which is man-centered.

26 For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.

Romans 1:26 BSB

“Dishonorable passions” is about sexual immorality. Sexual immorality has a broad meaning that encompasses all sexual sins. Here, it’s specific to homosexuality. God created men and women for marriage and procreation. When a man sleeps with a man or a woman sleeps with a woman, they become detestable to the Lord because that was not the purpose of God for them.

We are living in a day and age where homosexuality is forced on everyone to accept. The children are the ones in the most danger as they are like sponges, taking everything in. Satan understands that by focusing on the little ones—twisting their minds in school, they will grow up rejecting the God of the Bible—making it much easier for the devil to deceive them completely.

27 Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Romans 1:27 BSB

See verse 26 and its commentary. The phrase “received in themselves the due penalty” refers that in Judgment Day, their verdict will be guilty of being condemned to hell for their lifestyle, revealing that they have rejected Jesus as their Lord and Savior. To stay as a practicing homosexual for the rest of your life shows where your permanent home will be after death. A spiritual death sentence is when God gives you over to your sins.
