Let’s Give Thanks To The Lord Today

prayer

Psalms 96:3

Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all peoples.

Lord, I praise You and honor You because You are a God who saves, heals and forgives our debts. Thank You, Lord my God for all of Your blessings which You have showered on us with, for we have what we need because of You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your great salvation, for by Your stripes we are healed and taking our punishment upon Yourself so that we may have eternal life through faith in You and be with You forever.

Isaiah 53:3

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Your love O Lord made You die for us and I pray that my love for You may always be a living sacrifice showing how much You mean to me. May the name of Jesus Christ be exalted, praised, honored and glorified forever and ever. In Jesus name, I say these things, Amen.

The Flaming Arrows of Depression

flaming arrows

1 Kings 19:1-5

Ahab told Jezebel everything that Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “May the gods punish me and do so severely if I don’t make your life like the life of one of them by this time tomorrow!” 3 Then Elijah became afraid and immediately ran for his life. When he came to Beer-sheba that belonged to Judah, he left his servant there, 4 but he went on a day’s journey into the wilderness. He sat down under a broom tree and prayed that he might die. He said, “I have had enough! Lord, take my life, for I’m no better than my fathers.” 5 Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree.

Depression to a Christian is like Kryptonite to Superman. It makes one weak as what we see happened to Elijah. Elijah was a man of faith. He prayed that it wouldn’t rain for 3 ½ years (James 5:17-18) and it happened. He fought with the prophets of Baal and won victoriously, but what happened to Elijah happens to all of us. Satan uses “depression” as one of his greatest weapons of spiritual warfare for believers. Depression completely disables your faith, trust, and confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ and makes one lose all hope.

Depression works by redirecting our focus away from Jesus and putting it on the mountain of troubles which seem dire and impossible to overcome. What is the solution to depression? The solution is the promises found in the Bible. We know 100% that Jesus’ promises come to pass and the more we read the Word of God, the stronger our faith becomes since we are filling our minds with His promises which gives hope no matter how unconquerable our troubles might seem, resolve not to worry and go to Jesus in prayer and seek His face (Philippians 4:6-7) and you will see God’s deliverance. When Jesus gives you rest from your troubles and comforts you, remember to comfort those who are going through the same thing just like you did and were comforted. There is always hope in Jesus Christ.

Below are some of God’s promises that will encourage you not to give up.

Psalms 55:22

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

Joshua 1:9

Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

John 10:28

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Why Is It Vital For A Christian To Habitually Pray?

PRAYER-SERIES

Why is prayer so Important?

Intercessions for others:

Numbers 11:1-2

Now the people began complaining openly before the LORD about hardship. When the LORD heard, His anger burned, and fire from the LORD blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp. 2 Then the people cried out to Moses, and he prayed to the LORD, and the fire died down.

Job 1:5

Whenever a round of banqueting was over, Job would send for his children and purify them, rising early in the morning to offer burnt offerings for all of them. For Job thought: Perhaps my children have sinned, having cursed God in their hearts. This was Job’s regular practice.

Matthew 5:44-45

44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

When one feels sick:

James 5:14-15

14 Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over him after anointing him with olive oil in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will restore him to health; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

For the Believer’s growth:

Philippians 1:9-11

9 And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, 10 so that you can approve the things that are superior and can be pure and blameless in the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.

Colossians 1:9-10

9 For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, 10 so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God.

For the salvation of others:

Romans 10:1-2

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God concerning them is for their salvation! 2 I can testify about them that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

Prayer strengthens you so you won’t fall into temptation:

Matthew 26:40-41

40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He asked Peter, “So, couldn’t you stay awake with Me one hour? 41 Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

It is the believer’s responsibility to pray for others:

1 Samuel 12:23

“As for me, I vow that I will not sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you. I will teach you the good and right way.

If one wants to be close to the LORD:

Psalm 145:18

The LORD is near all who call out to Him, all who call out to Him with integrity.

Do not worry so much about what to pray for:

Romans 8:26

In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings.

Always confess your sins to the LORD through prayer:

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
