Podcast: What It Means To Trust In The Lord

Trusting in the Lord means that you believe everything God said in the Scriptures concerning His trustworthiness. If we doubt, we are saying that God cannot be trusted. God can only be pleased when we trust Him no matter our situation. God’s Word and prayer are what feed our faith. That is how you get close to God and prepared for the storm.

Waiting On God

5 Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken. 7 My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God. 8 Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge.

Psalm 62:5-8 BSB

Waiting on God’s rescue can feel like being in a boat that has many holes—taking in water very quickly, causing us to become desperate and impatient. When we get desperate, our faith becomes so weak that it feels like we don’t have it anymore. That is what happened to Jesus’ disciples, but we must remember that we are not alone because the Lord Jesus Christ is with us in good times and bad times. Take encourage.

37 Soon a violent windstorm came up, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was being swamped. 38 But Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him and said, “Teacher, don’t You care that we are perishing?” 39 Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. “Silence!” He commanded. “Be still!” And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm. 40 “Why are you so afraid?” He asked. “Do you still have no faith?” -Mark 4:37-40

Psalms 62 points us back to the Lord as our source of help and deliverance. Only God can help us out of our trouble—no one else can do what He can. Waiting is one of the hardest things to do because it requires a lot of faith. It is a good thing as it forces us to put it into practice.

Has the Lord asked you to wait on Him for your deliverance? If you wait for the Lord, He will bless you, but if you go ahead of the Lord before He delivers you the way He wants to for His glory and your benefit. You will lose the blessing that God has for you.

The Lord’s Ways Are Higher Than Ours

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9 NASB

We cannot walk with our own wisdom and understanding apart from God’s, thinking we know best for our spiritual lives. The Lord knows all things and sees all things from beginning to end.

Many Bibles are left to collect dust as we live life without God’s direction. The end result is many headaches. In Proverbs 3:5-6 it says, 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”

Don’t rely on what you think you know. Consult the Scriptures with prayer for the Lord to show you the path He has laid out for you to take.

God’s wisdom is so high from ours that we cannot even scratch the surface of His understanding. Our brains are not built to even hold point one percent of what the Lord knows.

Before you decide on a serious decision, make sure to go to the Lord Jesus Christ first for direction.

Seek the Lord’s counsel and your step will be established.
