Which cornerstone would you rather build your life on? To the left, the Word of God the foundation of truth or to the right, Catholicism’s foundation of truth according to their view?

 

Part 2: A continuation  in response to Sue’s comment.

Sue said:

I hate to break the news to you, but Scripture is NOT the pillar, foundation and bulwark of truth. If you read I Timothy 3:15 you will find that it is the church that is the pillar, foundation and bulwark of truth. There was only one church that Jesus established – and that Church was the Catholic Church.

I now will answer Sue’s misinterpretation of 1 Timothy 3:15 as the Catholic Church, which I will quote so that you can see what she is alluding to.

1 Timothy 3:15

15 But if I should be delayed, I have written so that you will know how people ought to act in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Sue interprets church in the passage above as the Catholic Church being the pillar and foundation of truth. Meaning that only the Catholic Church has the truth and authority. This right here folks is really one of the worst interpretation I have ever seen or heard.

First, I will start to define church according to Biblical definition with passages found in scripture so you will see what church really means which by the way is NOT a place or a real building.

1 Peter 2:4-6

4 Coming to Him, a living stone—rejected by men but chosen and valuable to God— 5 you yourselves, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house for a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it is contained in Scripture: Look! I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and honored cornerstone, and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame!

All believers in Jesus Christ spiritually speaking, are living stones being built into a spiritual house which is Jesus Christ. We are one with Christ because the Holy Spirit dwells within us according to these verses below:

1 Corinthians 12:27

Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it.

16 Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s sanctuary and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own

The church are individuals who house the Holy Spirit in their bodies. Each believer (living stones) are being built in Jesus Christ the chief cornerstone.

Ephesians 2:19-21

19 So then you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. 21 The whole building, being put together by Him, grows into a holy sanctuary in the Lord.

Christians are being built on the cornerstone, in other words we as a collective body of believers are the church not the building in where we worship the Lord. The building we go to worship Jesus is called the church, not because it looks like a church but because the church (Christians) are inside of the building and one can say, “the church is there because believers are assembled in that place.” You take out believers and all you have is an empty building, you find a building full of Christians and you have found the church.

Sue, wrongfully claims that the foundation of truth is the Church (Catholic). As you can see, the church comprises of believers who makes up the church. The foundation and pillar of truth is NOT the Catholic Church which by the way is a false Church but Jesus Christ IS the foundation of truth who lives in the hearts of believers who are the church as seen in 1 Corinthians 3:11 which says, “For no one can lay any other foundation than what has been laid down. That foundation is Jesus Christ.”

Sue says that the pillar and foundation is not scripture but the Catholic Church and I showed that that statement is not only false but demonic in nature because it takes away truth, which is found only in Christ and designates it only to the Catholic Church. Since Jesus is the foundation of truth and Jesus is the Word of God according to Revelation 19:13 which says, “He wore a robe stained with blood, and His name is the Word of God,” the conclusion is that the church (believers) whom Christ dwells within them (Ephesians 3:17) having the title the “Word of God” is the foundation of truth. The true foundation is not Catholicism or the church but the Word of God which we build our lives around and find truth.

(Part 1) In Defense of True Doctrine: In Response to a Catholic

I had an exchange with a Catholic woman who is a hardcore Catholic (a true Catholic). I will not mention her name but I will call her Sue. I will quote some of the things she wrote to me in an email. You will see that Catholics are not saved and believe in a different Jesus and they (not an ignorant Catholic) reject God’s Word as all sufficiency for salvation. A side note: I believe that there are some Catholics who have heard the gospel and have not been tainted with the Church’s traditions because of their ignorance which turns out to be in their favor and are saved. I believe that they are not Catholics anymore but are born again Christians who eventually the Holy Spirit will get them out of that false Church.

Sue said:

I will answer the first half of her statement and in Part 2 I will answer her out of context 1 Timothy 3:15.

Her statement is an attack on the Word of God and is so dangerous that any unsuspecting Christian who doesn’t know God’s Word for lack of study could fall into that Satanic trap and their faith can get bruised up really bad. In some cases, people who are close to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and gets some of that poisonous dose would completely kill whatever true beliefs and faith they had in Christ.

Matthew 7:24-25

24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.

We see that the Pillar is God’s Word which reveals to us the person of Jesus Christ and how to live a life that pleases Him. Scripture is the Pillar that holds up the foundation just like the rock that holds up the structure of the house and keeps it safe from danger according to Matthew 7, it is the opposite of what Sue is saying which are teachings of demons.

Sue claims that scripture is not the “bulwark” of Truth. Now, that’s a BIG lie and it comes from no other than Satan himself which is behind Sue to detour people from following Jesus Christ through scripture. What was Satan’s first attack on the human race? Satan attacked the only thing that protects us from him, God’s Word. We see this in Genesis 3:1-6 which says, “Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit from the trees in the garden. 3 But about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.’” 4 “No! You will not die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 Then the woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”

Satan disarmed Eve by making her doubt God’s Word. We are protected by the Word of God because when you live by it, you have put on Christ and He is your strength who fights all of your battles. When you take off Christ by not obeying God’s written Word then you are living in disobedience without Jesus’ protection. Why are Catholics in the dark? They are in the dark because the Devil has convinced them like Eve not to trust in scripture as your full authority and protection. Without knowing and having scripture, you cannot fight against false doctrines. The Catholics traditions are false doctrine that comes from the evil one. Jesus said in Matthew 7:24 that if you read the Bible and live by it, you will be a wise person who will be protected against demonic attacks.

Psalms 119:114

You are my shelter and my shield; I put my hope in Your word.

The person who puts their hope in God’s Word will be sheltered and have God as his shield of protection. The Catholic Church is not from God but from Satan. Their tradition contradicts Scripture by telling you that it’s OK to bow down to idols and worship them. Jesus condemned the Pharisees because their tradition contradicted the scriptures as seen in Mark 7:5-9 which states: 5 Then the Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, “Why don’t Your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders, instead of eating bread with ritually unclean hands?” 6 He answered them, “Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. 7 They worship Me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commands of men. 8 Disregarding the command of God, you keep the tradition of men.” 9 He also said to them, “You completely invalidate God’s command in order to maintain your tradition!

The Catholics are in the dark and they think that to make it into heaven is based on their merits alongside Jesus’ finished and perfected work (Christ’s righteousness). In Ephesians 2:8-9 it says the opposite: 8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— 9 not from works, so that no one can boast. Going back to Sue’s attack on God’s Word that it cannot protect you, one can’t separate the Word of God from Jesus Christ because in John 1:1 it states that the Word is God and in verse 14 it reveals the Word as Jesus Christ. In John 14:6 it declares that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. How can Sue say that scripture is not the pillar and bulwark of God’s truth? She can say this because she has rejected Jesus Christ as her only way to salvation just like many Catholics today have done. The Catholic Church blatantly rejects Jesus Christ wholeheartedly because they reject God’s Word as a means to know the whole truth of God and they rely mostly on their doctrine of demons (traditions).

Political Correctness is cancer to a Christian in sharing Truth

Isaiah 33:7-8

⁷ “As for you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from My mouth, give them a warning from Me. ⁸ If I say to the wicked, ‘Wicked one, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak out to warn him about his way, that wicked person will die for his iniquity, yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

Many people call themselves Christians but when it comes to saying the truth which in the process might make someone feel bad even though you’re doing it for the sake of the hearer to know the truth like John 8:32 says, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  they keep their mouth closed for the sake of keeping the person from feeling bad, at the cost of keeping the truth from the person. Is your silence worth it?

For my two brother and sister in Christ who supported me because they love truth and are not afraid to speak or support someone speaking up for the truth which shows that Christ lives in them.

Political correctness is a cancer for the body of Christ that eats away the image of Christ from the professing believer’s life. If you see a person who claims to follow Jesus and starts to bow down in front of an idol, will you still sit idly by without warning that person that worshiping or giving reverence to an idol other than Jesus Christ is idolatry? You are giving the glory due to Jesus to the idol.

What’s behind idols are demons according to 1 Corinthians 10:14-22 which says,

“¹⁴ Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. ¹⁵ I am speaking as to wise people. Judge for yourselves what I say. ¹⁶ The cup of blessing that we give thanks for, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ? ¹⁷ Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for all of us share that one bread. ¹⁸ Look at the people of Israel. Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in what is offered on the altar? ¹⁹ What am I saying then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? ²⁰ No, but I do say that what they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to participate with demons! ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot share in the Lord’s table and the table of demons. ²² Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?”

We must love the truth over making someone feel uncomfortable because by loving the truth is as loving Jesus because Jesus is truth. When you speak the truth to someone, you’re speaking Jesus’ language. Believe it or not, you love a person by telling them the truth and not allowing political correctness to corrupt your standing with the truth. People who worship or revere idols are in violation of God’s Word and we as Christians must speak up unless you truly are deceiving yourselves and are not truly saved. The Bible tells that in the future many will depart from the faith. I pray that all who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ that they may NEVER shrink back from the truth regardless if someone may get hurt by hearing it because wounds from a friend can be trusted.

Proverbs 27:6

The wounds of a friend are trustworthy, but the kisses of an enemy are excessive.
