Revelation 6:1-2, Who Is The Rider On The White Horse?

Antichrist
The rider on the white horse [Rev. 6:1-2] coming to conquer the inhabitants of the earth
The question is who is the rider on the white horse, Jesus or the Antichrist?

Revelation 6:1-2

Then I saw the Lamb open one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked, and there was a white horse. Its rider held a bow; a crown was given to him, and he went out as a conqueror in order to conquer.

The rider on the white horse starts off the Great Tribulation.

Revelation 19:11-16

11 Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and he judges and makes war with justice. 12 His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on his head. He had a name written that no one knows except himself. 13 He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. 14 The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen. 15 A sharp sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty. 16 And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

This rider is Jesus Christ as we see keywords or phrases as “His name is called the Word of God”, “The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen.”, and “A sharp sword came from his mouth”

  • Jesus is called the Word of God in John 1:1,14
  • At Jesus’ second coming, He will come with the saint’s Revelation 19:8, Matthew 24:29-31
  • A double-edged sword is referenced to Jesus in Revelation 1:16

Jesus will only come after the Great Tribulation and not during the beginning of it like in the first seal according to Matthew 24:29-30 which says, 29 “Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

So the rider in Revelation 6:1-2 cannot be Jesus because that rider with the bow will start the Tribulation while Jesus comes to defeat the Antichrist after the Great Tribulation to set up His millennial kingdom.

Unless God opens our eyes, how can we understand anything? I thank the Lord God Almighty who gives His children who seek His face insight and understanding.

  1. Hello, several years ago I might have very much agreed with you about the AC being the rider on white horse with bow. In the last two years, The Lord has had me study the Greek and Hebrew translations out of the KJV as well as scripture cross references, since scripture confirms scripture. The cross reference to Rev 6:2 is Psalm 45:4 as well as Revelation 14:14.
The bow of Rev 6:2 is from Greek 5115 and the base of 5088 (“tikto”) and means to produce (from seed, as a mother, a plant) be delivered, be in travail… which also points to the previous Revelation 12 sign that occurred back in Sept 2017. From cross references over the last two years I’m more inclined to look at the rider in Rev 6:2 as “The Branch” of Jeremiah 23:6 and the horse he is riding as reflecting the one spoken of in Songs 3:6..who – together – begin the reaping of the harvest of the First Fruits vineyard (Barley harvest/wheat harvest).
    Blessings

  2. That is awesome that you are doing deep study in Holy Scripture. But, when you read verse 2, the rider of the white horse with the rest of its context, you see that they are there [the four horsemen] to bring destruction to the inhabitants on the earth. When I personally do cross-references, I make sure it is dealing with the same topic to bring more clarity to the passage. Words have meaning in its context when you apply the same meaning to another context with the same word, you will get a wrong understanding. Remember, words have more than one meaning so it will give that meaning according to its immediate context. I personally believe that Scripture is clear that this rider in Rev. 6:1-2 is the Antichrist because the end times is focused on him like in 2 Thess. 2. I appreciate you giving me your point of view.
One question, what sign are you referring to that happened in 2017?

  3. Hello Spaniard,
The good news is Yeshua Hamaschiach is our victory. That being said I’ve come to realize that too much focus has been put on the identity/rise of the antichrist where, instead, we ought to be sure we are truly worshipping the Lord Christ in Spirit and Truth – being certain that we continually ask for the Ruach Ha Kodesh (His Ishshah) to cleanse us off all spot and blemish as per Ps 139:23-24.

The sign from 2017 was the Revelation 12 sign which occurred September 23, 2017… the month before (Aug 17, 2017 was the full solar eclipse- what I recognized as the Eye of Elohim).
Most believe nothing really happened but what occurred – I believe occurred in the Spirit. I guess it sounds like we might end up agreeing to disagree. There are many layers to scripture and as Bereans we are taught to examine the scriptures carefully because scripture by itself (without other cross references) could also cause confusion. I have found scripture cross references help me to clarify initial misunderstandings.
May Yahshua Bless you in the days and cover you with His Shalom during the Harvest.
