Fitting The Right Pieces

9 Anyone who runs ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God. Whoever remains in His teaching has both the Father and the Son. -2 John 1:9 BSB

God’s Word is like the game “Perfection,” see picture above. The board game has many different shapes looking holes that only the right piece with the exact geometric shape can fit the hole of that same shape. Many false teachers twist and disfigure the meaning of the truth of Scripture to deceive, if possible, the Christians.

You see, when someone brings you a message from God or teaching, it’s like giving you a square piece, which you grab the square-looking shape, take it to the board that contains many holes with different shapes, and you start looking for the hole that would fit it. If you don’t even have a square hole, the message that was brought to you has to be completely rejected, for it is unbiblical. But, if you do find the right hole, but the piece is too big to fit in, then the message or teaching you are receiving is flawed with an incorrect interpretation that can steer you in the wrong direction.

To know all the shapes of the board game to accurately assess the piece you receive if it will fit or not, you must study the board and remember the shapes it contains. It’s the same with God’s Word. You have to read and study it to know what it says so that when you hear a spiritual message, you can accurately assess if it’s biblical or not.

Do Not Destroy Yourself

13 And this is another thing you do: You cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping and groaning, because He no longer regards your offerings or receives them gladly from your hands. 14 Yet you ask, “Why?” It is because the LORD has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have broken faith, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. -Malachi 2:13-14 BSB

The phrase “you have broken faith” means acting treacherously toward one’s spouse through betrayal. The moment a man or a woman crosses that line, your “good deeds” for the Lord, will no longer be accepted. Repentance and, as much as possible, reconciliation must be a priority. As long as you are in sin, a spiritual wall has been constructed between you and the Lord. He will not hear your prayers (Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have built barriers between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.”)

When one commits adultery, it will bring upon divorce, and the children will be immensely impacted by it, not just in the physical aspect of it but spiritually. They will eventually become estranged from the Lord because Satan will take that opportunity to ingrain in their minds his lie, how much God has failed them. That is why God hates divorce. It affects the husband, the wife, and the children.

16 “For I hate divorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel. “He who divorces his wife covers his garment with violence,” says the LORD of Hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit and do not break faith. -Malachi 2:16 BSB

Don’t destroy your godly progress and work that you have labored so hard for the Lord for a moment of weakness. If you fall, remember, you will destroy not just your character and your walk with God, but your entire household will collapse, bringing devastation to your family.
