Molek’s New Name: Abortion

This post is inspired by my reading today.

Leviticus 20:1-5

The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Say to the Israelites: ‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molek is to be put to death. The members of the community are to stone him. 3 I myself will set my face against him and will cut him off from his people; for by sacrificing his children to Molek, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name. 4 If the members of the community close their eyes when that man sacrifices one of his children to Molek and if they fail to put him to death, 5 I myself will set my face against him and his family and will cut them off from their people together with all who follow him in prostituting themselves to Molek.

To murder children in Bible times was a capital offense and the murderer received a death sentence. Those laws only applied to the Jewish people when God brought them out of Egypt. For today, it’s not a capital crime to have an abortion but that doesn’t change the fact how God feels about it. In verse 3, the Lord will set His face against anyone who has an abortion and doesn’t repent by turning to Jesus for salvation. Those who don’t repent by killing their unborn child, God will be against that person and will demand an account for their murderous heart.

The false god Molek has popped up in our time with a new name, “Abortion.” Satan always presents to the world the same deadly gift inside with a different looking box and wrap so that you won’t put 2 and 2 together and see what it really is. The Lord clearly said in verse 3 that you are profaning His holy name by aborting your unborn baby. In Isaiah 43:7 it says, “everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” As believers we carry the name of Jesus hence “Christians” to bring Him glory through obedience and to represent Him to the world so we must hate what He hates and love what He loves. We are here to do His will and to honor Him but if we abort an unborn child you are dishonoring His name because you are going against God’s Word and killing the baby in the womb that He created in His image.

  1. Doesn’t the story of Abraham involve God demanding that Abraham kill his son out of deference to God?

Also, what does God intend when the life of the mother is at stake?

  2. That is a gross misinterpretation. God tested Abraham with His intention of not harming the child but if you would actually read the Bible you wouldn’t use Abraham’s account because it has nothing to do with abortion. Here, please read it Genesis 22.

  3. Your original story has nothing to do with abortion, too. That one speaks only of “out of the womb” children being intentionally sacrificed to a god other than the Christian god.

As for Abraham, god is pretty specific–kill your son to honor me (a barbaric request regardless of the asker). Abraham had the boy tied up, put him on the alter, and was putting the knife up to kill the boy (I took your advice of the passage number to refresh my memory) when he was told “nah, I was just testing you”. Abraham was ready, willing and able to kill his son to please the lord. If god knows whats inside everyone’s hearts, why does he need acts of devotion like this, and why must it be a child put in harms way? By the way, there is still the sacrifice of a ram in this story. How come god doesn’t expect modern Christians to sacrifice rams anymore?

  4. You said-“Your original story has nothing to do with abortion, too. That one speaks only of “out of the womb” children being intentionally sacrificed to a god other than the Christian god.”

My original story has everything to do with abortion because regardless if the baby is born or still in his mother’s womb, the baby is alive with a soul. By killing an unborn baby is the same as a born one because both of them are alive, that’s murder.

You said- “As for Abraham, god is pretty specific–kill your son to honor me (a barbaric request regardless of the asker).”

A test means to see if a person will obey even though the request is impossible. A test reveals the person’s heart and God was never going to allow Abraham to strike his son Isaac with the knife. Since you are not a believer and are void of the Holy Spirit, you are not able to understand something that is discerned spiritually. That passage if you keep reading Abraham told his son that God will provide the sacrifice before he tied up Isaac. Abraham’s test was a foreshadow of the Lamb of God Jesus Christ who was going to die on the cross for the sins of the world so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God was going to punish His Son Jesus and on the third day raise Him from the dead so you won’t have to die in your sins and go to hades, a place of an eternal fire that will never go out.

To me by you having a problem with my post, tells me either you had an abortion or you know someone close to you that had one. That sin is forgivable if you ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior and ask Him to forgive you, He will. No one can force you to believe in Jesus Christ, that’s your decision alone to make.

  5. Your words are true. More Americans have been killed by abortions than all the mass shootings+wars combined!*** Their blood cries out, just like Able’s blood. We must be in prayer daily asking the Father to forgive our land for the blood that has been shed. He will call it in on judgement.
    ?
Isaiah 43:7 it says, “everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
Can we agree that this name was Yahweh? I challenge all to question and research why it was changed to God or Lord. Every wonder why it is italicized in most versions?
    **Not my numbers the CDC’s

look for the abortion tab and then you tabulate each year. For instance 2012 saw 600,000+ abortions.

  6. Hello, thanks for your comment. Regarding the name Yahweh. Yes it is God’s name but remember that the Jew’s changed it to Lord because of fear of saying His name in vain. We assume that it is spelled Yahweh since we only have YHWH. But when a Christian prays it should be as Jesus taught, “Holy Father” found in Matthew 6.

  7. I think we should use His real name and pronounce it the best we can.
I have landed on Yahuah as the best way to say it. There is power in HIS name as the text plainly says. It is worth investigating for ones self to see what the word says about His name.

  8. Yeshua yes. Jesus is a Greek name from IESOUS. He was not Greek in anyway. I think HE would naturally prefer to go by Yeshua or Yahushua. It’s worth looking into.

  10. It’s not about what you and I think, it is about the Scriptures. Jesus the Living God wanted His Word to be recorded in the Greek language and that was the name printed on it. If you have a problem with the name Iesous than the problem that you have is with the Scripture.

  11. Thank you for posting this. I was researching Molek and Rephan from today’s reading:
    Acts 7:41-43:
“That was the time they made an idol in the form of a calf. They brought sacrifices to it and reveled in what their own hands had made. But God turned away from them and gave them over to the worship of the sun, moon and stars. This agrees with what is written in the book of the prophets: “ ‘Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, people of Israel? You have taken up the tabernacle of Molek and the star of your god Rephan,
the idols you made to worship. Therefore I will send you into exile’ [See, Amos 5:25-27 (see Septuagint)] beyond Babylon.”
From my search: Molek (Canaanite god associated with child sacrifice, through fire or war) and Rephan (means “Fallen One” Saturn, symbolized by the pentagram and witchcraft).
Your article is really helpful. We must defend life. The excuse that the mother will suffer death is virtually obsolete due to improvements in modern medicine.
Regardless, killing a human being is never an excuse. It is unfortunate that our American legal system does not acknowledge that a baby is a human being until it takes its first breath. The common law is a reflection on the fact that our nation needs to repent and turn back to God.

  12. Thank you for your comment. I’m glad that my post was helpful. the Scripture says that in later times wickedness will increase and the love of many will grow cold. With everything that is going on, we will see the return of Christ really soon. Sadly, America and the rest of the world will just get worse. What we as believers can do is, spread the gospel so that those who accept it may get eternal life and escape God’s wrath. God bless you.

  13. This is very interesting. I’m from Hindu background but find Christ teaching very powerful and direct. He say treat others as you would have them treat you. See, this similar to Karma. Every child even animal have Soul. Soul itself transmigrates until it eventually join with the Almighty. Also many people who had NDE, Near Death Experience say they experience being in presence of Christ. They can’t all be wrong.
For me, Jesus is gateway to next dimension or Realm.
    Thank you and God bless.
    Sorry for my English. 🙂

  14. Hello, londoninvestigates, good to see you, and thank you for visiting my blog.

I just want to correct some of the things you said.

Animals don’t have a soul since humans are the only ones created in God’s image.

Jesus is the only way to make it to heaven. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life no one can come to the Father except through Jesus.

Jesus revealed Himself as God. To get eternal life, a person has to place his faith in Jesus Christ, who died for his sins on the cross and rising from the dead on the third day. Only Jesus can forgive your sins.

  15. Thank you for welcome..
I personally believe to treat all sentient being with compassion. Maybe this is the way of both Christian and Hindu systems?
I know you say Christ is only way.
I personally do pray to Christ. But I also understand other people be they Buddhist or Islam have their methods. Maybe God has send his messengers throughout time. I mean what happens to people born 100BC or 200BC, they couldn’t have known Jesus even though he was predicted to Earth 800 BC in Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 from Old Testament? Sorry if I’m not cleat. Thank you for your help.

  16. Before, Jesus Christ, or even the Bible, men knew the true God who alone created the heavens and the earth. In Romans 1:18-20, it says, “18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.”

God, the true God has revealed Himself to all of humanity. God gives each person a small light [understanding] to know that there is a God. If they respond to that revelation, God will give them more.

If they don’t have access to a Bible, God will send them a missionary with one, and if there is no missionary, God will give them a dream and speak with them directly. No matter what period of time they live in, either before Jesus or after Jesus, God will reveal Himself to them, if they want to know the true God.

Today, we have His Word [the Bible]. There can only be one true God, and that is, Jesus Christ who alone created the universe. There is an evil spirit that is called: Satan, who deceives the whole world into believing in false gods that are not real.

The only way you can have your sins forgiven is through faith in Jesus Christ. The other religion does not deal with removing one’s sins to make them right with God. You only see this in Christianity.

  17. Thank you for your insight Spaniardviii – Many people still have these experiences you described even seeing Christ.

As for Molek in another talk, was he not an Devil idol like Satan where grieving mothers sacrificed their own children into a fire?

  18. Yes, to your question. They worshiped demons thinking that it was a real god. But, in reality, it is Satan behind false idols. He wants you to worship him through idols and not the true God, Jesus Christ.
